# Feature Suggestion: Shared Access Storage Containers for Players and Alts

## The Idea

It would be great to have a new type of storage container in EVE Online that could be used in stations and player-owned structures, with the ability to grant access to multiple pilots.

Currently, players who manage several characters (_alts_) and operate from the same station often have to rely on contracts, deliveries, or other workarounds to transfer items between their own characters. This can become tedious, especially when dealing with large quantities of materials, modules, ships, and industrial resources.

My suggestion is to introduce a **Shared Access Storage Container**. It would work like a regular storage container, but its owner or administrator could grant specific pilots permission to access its contents.

## How Would It Work?

- **Shared access:** The owner could grant or revoke permissions for specific characters, allowing them to view, deposit, or withdraw items according to their assigned access rights.

- **Designed for alts:** Multiple characters, whether on the same account or on different accounts, could use the same storage container as long as they had the appropriate permissions.

- **Very large storage capacity:** These containers could offer significantly more volume than standard containers, making them useful for industry, mining, logistics, and other activities.

- **Manufacturable in-game:** The container could be produced through a dedicated industrial blueprint, requiring a substantial amount of materials and having a considerable packaged volume.

- **Clear ownership and administration:** Each container would have a designated owner or manager responsible for access permissions and storage management.

- **Asset safety and recovery:** If the container were destroyed, sent to Asset Safety, or otherwise affected by a structure’s asset-recovery mechanics, its contents would be handled according to the registered owner’s status and the game’s applicable rules.

## Why Would This Be a Useful Improvement?

This feature would make managing multiple characters much easier, particularly for players involved in industry, Planetary Industry (PI), mining, research, and trading.

Instead of constantly switching characters, creating contracts, or searching through different inventories to find specific items, we could use a centralized storage location shared between authorized pilots.

Of course, the system should include clear access permissions, activity logs, and appropriate security measures to prevent theft and abuse.

## Conclusion

The goal is not to remove logistics or make hauling irrelevant. It is to improve inventory management for characters that are authorized to work together.

A large-capacity, manufacturable storage container with a secure access-management system would be a valuable quality-of-life improvement for players who manage multiple alts in EVE Online.

What do you think? Would you use a feature like this, and what limitations or security measures would you suggest?

I like the idea, but seems like the core concept is already handled by corp hangar and office rental (with the exception of If you are using NPC corp alts to do stuff). However office rental is expensive, and there is a limited number of slots. I’d rather that office rentals were massively reduced in cost + the office limit removed. I don’t really understand the point of gatekeeping office logistics to only very wealthy corps and making the solo player have to do ■■■■■■■■ contracts to move items.
