A: Yep. Shamelessly. I’m lazy, couldn’t think of a better name, and honestly, Firehawk sounds cooler anyway.
Q: Dex, why make a bot when other devs have already done it better?
A: Been learning Go. I learn by doing. This is the result. If you think it sucks… congratulations, you’re not wrong.
Q: Can we request features?
A: Sure, toss them at the GitHub. Will I build them? Maybe. Will I cry if it’s too much work? Definitely.
Q: Firetail had all sorts of handy stuff — what did you leave out?
A: Just the price lookup. Turns out that thing is more effort than I care to invest. If you want it, either beg nicely or learn Go yourself.
Q: Does it actually work or is this just a talking toy?
A: It works. Only thing missing is channel subscriptions — don’t want it spamming every channel with 2-year-old killmails. Beyond that… it’ll grudgingly do what you ask.
Q: Will Firehawk make me rich, famous, or admired by my corp?
A: No. It won’t. But at least it won’t whine when you undock into a fleet of Maelstroms and die horribly.
Q: So why did you write this Q&A?
A: Wanted to give experienced devs a chance to criticise someone else’s stuff. Also, once I finish the subscription maps, I might make it public… maybe.
Q: Any advice for new users?
A: Don’t join Goons. Ask everyone why blackout wasn’t maintained. It really upsets people.
