Going off on a tangent about patent or copyright infringements and how they are dealt with by lawyers in court is not my goal here. But be assured that if a company suspects infringement on its intellectual property it will act.

I can cite probably dozens of examples where it literally doesnt happen.

Especially if its something no one cares about or it isnt worth the cost of suing.

No, I’m trying to keep this exchange respectful. I haven’t said anything about your imagination, I was merely pointing out potentially legal repercussions _in general_ because of creative companies using intellectual property rights to protect themselves from patent/copyright infringements.
I’m not defending ccp’s alleged lack of creativity. I’m not following your claim they lack creativity. That’s all.

I think I’m starting to understand your expectation about creativity. World of Darkness, Dust514/Project Nova, Gunjack, Valkyrie, Eve Echoes ? Do these count, completely new games, some with new technology ? Like I wrote earlier, creativity comes in levels. The one for EvE online will always be limited by the boundaries of its setting, and where profit generation is concerned by the current norms in the entertainment industry and the targeted customer.

But yeah, essentially a kid with water colors, a brush and a sheet of paper can be creative. The result might not be art, but it is a creation.

Just need to clear this off the table first: World of Darkness was a pre existing IP.

As for the others, the only thing that CCP was going to do that hadnt been successfully done was plans for various games such as DUST tie in to EvE to expand the universe experience, and they fluffed that for greed and Star Citizen decided to take that idea (and fluff it for greed even harder).

None of those games are new ideas that hadnt been done better before as stand alone experiences, in as far as Id experienced them.

For the same reason as why people leave suicide notes, I wager. Because they want people to understand why they left.

Yeah. I live in FW lowsec myself, and haven’t been to highsec since I had to FC EDENCOM fleets, but I can see why people would get disgruntled over suicide gank attacks. I would help with that but I have discovered that sitting in a Griffin to cover newbros in Ventures is extremely boring.

Every part of space has it’s resident problems. At least in highsec those problems are players. In FW lowsec it’s bots flipping warzones so other bots can farm LP in missions. Doesn’t make FW less fun, but it does mean that the LP is worth less than it would be in normal circumstances, which in turn means that all those newbros I try to get into the dank T1 Frigate PVP mayhem do not profit from it as much as they ought to, while the same bots continue to do this stuff night and day without CCP taking action against it.

You say this as a joke but I think that the Gallente roleplayers would be as pleased with the catgirls as the Amarr roleplayers would be with the tiaras.

> [@Mike\_Azariah](#):
>
> I can threaten a piece but not suggest that I might tear the opponents arms off if I lose.

It appears that they do not consider themselves to be a piece on the board, but just an honest bear trying to make a buck. Then once they inevitably get dropped by a swarm of Catalysts, which does sort of defy the concept of highsec as a pvp-free place, they consider this behaviour to exceed the rules. And to some degree I agree with them. I see Highsec as an area for new players or casual players. If people wanted to fight, they would come to lowsec. If they wanted to suffer through TIDI and alarm clocking they’d be in nullsec. If they wanted to get in touch with their inner paranoia whilst the soundtrack of Event Horizon plays in the background they’d be in wormhole space. And whilst camping a gate in lowsec connected to highsec is fine, as someone whose joy in eve comes from solo pvp, I do not view highsec ganking as a very Bushido activity.

For what it’s worth, I don’t shoot those when I’m out and about. Sure I’ve shot a few when I was in fleet and the FC made the call, but personally I do not see the challenge in fighting a Venture. I’d rather see that person make it home to port safely and use the funds to buy themselves a nice little frigate to slide into my FW complex with.

He did not say that he did not understand why they are leaving. He said that he does not understand why they write a massive forum post citing their grievances before they leave.

> [@Qia\_Kare](#):

Indeed. Sometimes you just want to give someone a good fight even though you know that the match-up is not in your favour.

I would disagree. I get by just fine on my own, and other people can do the same. Often it is the ones who belong to groups and never learned how to fight on their own who report you to CCP for orbiting them at 500 meters to make their shots miss instead of hitting Approach to “honor brawl”.

As much as I would like to say “As your possessions are now superfluous to your needs, may I receive them”, I think the Magic School Bus might be a better one. That way it goes to newbros who might still find joy here. I guess.

Whilst the latter group does have Abyssal tournaments now, I see what you mean. When I am busy with FW, and I am sitting inside of a plex, I view it as a romantic dinner table set for two people who both enjoy pew pewing each other. Conversely I suppose that I could also be regarded as a spider sitting in a web that happens to give LP after x amount of minutes, but I prefer the dinner table metaphor. It can take a while before a bot registers the pressure I am applying to a system, and it’ll take a little while longer before someone notices the results the bots publish. But when you do see a hostile militia member enter local, and they do show up on 0,1 AU 360 angle, you know that they’re checking zkill before deciding whether or not to slide in. Feels like

Think that the 10th killmark on one of my kitey Condors was taken from a 1v6 in an open complex in FW space. I see no reason why people would have victory just because of numbers. Piloting capabilities, skill training, implants, drugs and knowing your enemy and terrain can all drastically impact things, moreso than numbers. By the same metric I’ve also rammed a Garmur into a Thrasher because I was shitfaced and flying after midnight. I just responded by shouting “witness me” instead of crying on the forums because I understood that fighting entails dying. And naturally all three enemies responded with “witnessed”.

That’s an interesting perspective on Lowsec which I, as someone who spends the majority of his game time there, don’t really share. Never turned PLEX into ISK and I get by just fine off of FW LP and the loot from the wrecks of my enemies.

Because outside of the Intergalactic Summit subforum, and that one thread for frigate PVP enthusiasts there is really nothing of value here.

I assume they meant looking up youtube videos to learn how to do the thing they need to do, or asking questions in the Rookie Help channel. Personally I had to learn from the FW players I grew up alongside, and by fighting the opposing force.

The nature of EVE changes radically depending on whether you are in Highsec, FW Lowsec, Nullsec, wormhole space or Pochven, so there is no objective vision. If people were willing and able to fight they’d have dropped down from High to Low to give me a good fight. High is supposed to be for newbros and people whose IRL schedule doesn’t allow them to commit to the other aspects of the game.

Having been there, yeah, it’s quite a thing. My first campaign was the Floseswin war, when House Sarum decided to enslave the population of the 4th planet in the system. I had no reason to suspect that we would ever lose our staging structure, or that the Amarrian playerbase was even capable of making local spike up to 400. When it was over I stayed on grid to watch the structure blow up because it was so unnatural after watching our side whip their butts without losing ships for so long. Granted they still failed to take the system before the Republic ground forces wiped out the Amarrian ground forces, in part due to the insane hours people put in to delay the loss of system control.

Thats a pretty disingenuous reply for many reasons. Not least of which is your (assumed) level of experience and ship choice.

Nah it’s perfectly genuine. I’m not opposed to outnumbered fights. Though what you say about freighters and barges is true. But that would involve me going to highsec which I am not willing to do. The logic error is that you assume that they believed they could win, when in reality they never viewed themselves as a combatant on account of what Sec they were flying in and what they were flying.

You can shoot at whatever you want to and it doesn’t bother me a bit. We didn’t have ventures back then, so I was either in a frigate or corvette. I think a corvette. I had ample time to escape with my ship, and I could have saved my pod, but I didn’t. I learned I had made assumptions about the way people play that were not true and all it cost me was a cheap (or free) ship and an empty pod. Had I NOT been shot, I could have lost a lot more to learn this lesson than I did. Even if you are magnanimous enough to leave me be, it would definitely behoove me not to expect people to follow that example when I encounter them.
