If you’re gonna go _that_ far, you may as well go the X series route and re-design the game so Capsuleers are not so much pilots, but rather commanders. Not that I dislike the concept, just that Eve is not that game.

Could it should it will it… I don’t know. CCP’s certainly doing its darndest to dry up the player base. Who knows how long before they try to sell Eve: Single Player mode just to try and get some revenue.

Isn’t this the case with the lore already? I thought every ship was filled with people

All ships are crewed in some capacity, save in exceptional circumstances. Even frigates.

This goes for all capsuleer ships unless like… you invest absurd amounts of money in very advanced automation technologies which may or may not get some scrutiny from CONCORD @dakker

From the lore side, yeah, more or less what Lauralite said. Though, my understanding is Gallente ships tend to have a bit more automation than the rest. But from a mechanics/gameplay perspective you the capsuleer are pretty much the pilot, captain, and crew all at once. So, basically you’re the ship.

Part of the ship, part of the crew?

To some degree, yes @Kenrailae , and a capsuleer can and will notably reduce crew requirements for a given vessel, and greatly streamlines CnC.

Each empire and pirate faction’s ships will also have varied crew numbers anyway based on things like mission profile, fitting, and so on as well. Ontop of the variations in doctrinal requirements like say the Caldari and Minmatar prefering practicality and hands on functionality with larger crews, while Gallente and Amarr will supplement their notably large fleets with additional automation equipment where its applicable and cost effective to do so.

I’ll just use my orca to haul ore around…that is if I decide to invest my time in this game anymore.
Sick of people crying about people mining in a Orca “it’s a command ship” blah blah blah.
If it had the ability to mine…then I don’t see the problem.

While I understand that’s a meme, its one that does bug me a fair bit.

The Amarr, despite the surface level ‘lol space slaver zealots’, are indeed a surprisingly sophisticated society both in technology and structuring.

You are the commander - not the pilot. This is especially apparent when firing weapons; you don’t aim them, you simply say shoot that ship.

Other examples:

- Warp to x Gate.
- Mine that rock.

There are very few commands in the game that could be thought of as actually piloting your ship yourself.

Would love to be able to overheat my mining lasers just like my pew pew ones, it would add some fun to mining like carrying nanite paste and trying not to burn them out while maxing my ore intake. would be less boring and promote active playing and less afk play while making laser mining better than drone mining. I think a solo barge should be able to mine way more than an orca way faster and I hate feeling like I need 2 accounts because of boosts, im using 1 account not using orca just one mining ship I refuse to have another account just for boosts.

i used to have 2 accounts just for 1 boosting and the other mining, it was great _very active_ _much fun_ **wow**. That is if you were doing mining, if you weren’t that 2nd account was just collecting dust, not worth the real money to just have a toon sitting in station. I’m sure plenty of vets have uses of multiple accounts out of mining, but i don’t Even if running missions and with the 2nd account i bring in a Noctis to loot everything while i kill stuff… MTU exists … what is 5 seconds to go to station and launch the noctis once the mission is over? Is that premium “time saving” worth 25$ / month extra ? Not for me.

Interesting thing really, in a capsuleer vessel, it is the _capsuleer_ trigger the weapons systems, processing the targetting solutions(through the various sensor suites jack into the pod), triggering repair and shield boost mechanisms, and propulsion.

Crews remain for maintenance, monitoring, and backup in case a normal control pathway fails. Crew can also lead to some interesting acts of sabotage. This can be seen highlighted in the Chronicle ‘All These Lives Are Fit to Ruin’

I also largely recommend diving through the lore portal [EVE Universe](https://universe.eveonline.com/)

That may be the lore, but the actual gameplay does not involve targeting guns, steering your ship or a multitude of minor actions - only over-arching commands like fire guns, go that way, warp to x etc.

My two cents worth after our first post-patch HS moon mining adventure.

It could be the age of prosperity if you’re already prosperous and you’re multi-boxing your PC into the ground. So it worked for some of us, but my drone-mining colleagues not so much.

While we again exceeded 30 people in fleet (17 actual people) this was only because there were minerals in the moon. I can’t say it enough: unless there is another serious reworking of industry to make moon products as needed as tritanium then no minerals in HS moons will equal no HS moon mining.

On the whole my guys are cautiously happy with the state of _our_ game.

That isn’t what I said - but given this is a thread about mining I will agree that mining is dull as dishwater.
