Yay childish insults 😊 I think that means I win. It’s times like this that really illustrate the importance of “downvotes” and “laugh reacts” instead of just silly hearts all the time. But we can’t have downvotes right? 🙁 that would be hateful bullying 😡

No idea is bad enough (almost) not to post it even if it’s stupid, since a new idea just maybe be born from it.

Thanks for clarifying.

I still maintain my stance despite your attempt to become a forum troll to anyone who dares disagree with you.

What is odd about it? Any fuel combusting vehicle that has a battery uses it’s combustion engine to charge it, and if it has redundant engines, it can use power from either the battery or an operational engine to startup offline engine(s).

For aircraft, this is in fact the common startup procedure: start auxiliary generator using battery, then switch the power source from the battery to the generator to power up one engine, once the one engine is up, engage the engine-integrated power generator and switch from the auxiliary power source to the engine power source to startup engine two, then engage generator of engine two and use engine 1 and 2 combined power to startup engine 3 (if present) and so on.

Your engines are clearly working when you’re capped out and webbed and scrammed, as you can still give manouvering orders to your ship and it will abide to them.

Not gonna read all that straw man nonsense. This is not about combustion engines.

You need cap to warp so with a zeroed cap you shouldn’t be able to warp, but due to the way cap regen and server ticks work this is rarely the case, as explained earlier in this thread.

Anyway I was not even participating in the thread in general so pretty pointless to address me with your counter-argument, I just mentioned what the OP was about instead of where the subject derailed recently, to call people’s attention to this fact in case they want to get back on track.

Personally am not invested in the subject either way.

So… you’re saying that the physics behind these ships, that are capacitor driven, are basically identical to that of an internal combustion engine.

Even though we’re talking about a warp drive capable of accelerating to almost 3,000 times the speed of light (in the case of my Proteus) in ways that aren’t even possible- but the physics are still the same as the 12V battery on a car…

Personally, I’d be all for this kind of realism where cap draining stops warp, but only if they did away with bumping being able to stop warp. Realistically, I can drive my car without touching my steering wheel. I don’t have to point to a destination before I can move forward. Warp speed should be the same thing. I should be able to warp in any direction. That’s the same kind of realism, right?
