It’s an old problem. High sec security needs a rework. CCP has to know this, but clearly they’re either not finished with it yet or they just don’t care. ---

He was possibly the only one with that many at that time. (There was also Bob the ### in Solitude with at least 10 in that year already). Nobody has 40+ and if they do they are not using them all for ganking. Multiboxing went rampage because: - CCP lifted (soft) account restrictions, no longer you needed different email which made it far more convenient - CCP started supporting it - the account page on their web now supports multiple accounts by same email; that clearly tell us all that this is no longer some grey zone but absolutely legal and became meta (because no longer you are dependant on other player being online and no longer you need to share loot) - CCP started nerfing ganking, each such nerf caused portion of players to quit, also better games appeared like Albion and some gankers quit simply because they found something better to do with their free time. The remaining gankers needed to replace these personnel loses to be able to gank further. - CCP started buffing our targets. Mining ships suddenly became tankier than battleships which means we need more shooters. And because previous and upcoming nerfs we could not find actual players to do it ourselves anymore. All this led to current state where pretty much every ganker is multiboxing 6-20 acounts and ganks “alone”. **However** , if the players are quitting because of this (and you have no proof for that), they are not quitting because of ganking, but because multiboxing itself. When I was new player I was disgust by the fact that Jason Kusion ganked me with what was apparently 15 of his own alts that he multiboxed. However, then I started actually looking into space and these mining multibox fleets which were already there in 2016 and they disgust me just as much. I didn’t quit though, but I agree that this sight might be too much for some players. ---

How many nerfs to ganking have there been in those 10 years? By appeasing the whiners who plead to Daddy CCP to protect them rather than taking action in-game themselves, CCP have driven a lot of gankers from the game. Those that remain are forced to multibox with more accounts to overcome the increased base tank on freighters and miners. It’s a win-win for CCP because gankers have to pay for more omega accounts, and miners increase their multibox fleets because they think CCP have “finally cured the ganking problem”. How prevalent are 40+ gank fleets now? Get serious. ---

Even if TQ ‘only’ has 25k concurrent players at the moment, there are far more EVE players than that, even if some are counted multiple times due to multiboxing. ---

Void ammunition was buffed… the Navy Exequror was buffed… Uedama was buffed (and became even more of a chokepoint). Marauders were nerfed then nerfed again (a popular target of gankers). This is on top of CCP relaxing the email requirements and numerous other “under the hood” improvements to improve performance. The only “nerfs” that I can think of were a) removing red safety from Alphas (which was a clear exploit and abused to no end) and b) the Surgical Strike rollback and Navy Exequror nerf in Legion. Gankers can still use stargates and stations in a pod and the bounty system was removed entirely. ---
