Don’t get me wrong, it can still be a bit of a lark, but given how much collusion and match-throwing there is to ensure the connected people get their valuable AT ships, or back in the day win a bet they made against themselves, you probably should treat it more as a series of WWE wrestling matches than a real esport or competitive tournament. Further, it takes place in a safe space separate from New Eden between balanced fleets - in other words it is everything Eve is not. Even if the AT was somehow cleaned up and made into a fair tournament, success there has very little connection to what wins the tourney and what makes a group successful at Eve - unless you count the back room skullduggery and side deals that decides much of the event.
