You’re mixing up meanings: A) “Critical thought” is meant to convey a deep, reflective and pensive attitude towards a topic. B) Someone “being critical” is conveying an idea that is in contrast to another. I’m saying you’re not A and you’re thinking I’m saying you’re not B.
