I canā€™t remember exactly how it started. I think it had to do something with incoming DUST514 on PS3. But i started my Capsuleer career on February 1st 2013 before DUST514 was released. ---

Once upon a time @Iceacid_Frostpacker received a postal mail from Aiko about his mining bargeā€™s extended warranty. He never played EVE Online before but this letter made him curious so he installed it and the rest is history. ā„ ---

Tried it soon after release. Didnā€™t get into it. Tried again sometime around 2011. Didnā€™t get into it. Tried again after B-R5RB. Got recruited to RvB. Something clicked. Been hooked ever since. ---

My first MMORPG I played was a Sci-Fi space game called DarkSpace, roughly from 2006 to 2007. It was mainly PvP which once in a while spawned some Alien NPCā€™s. The game consisted of 3 different Factions, each competing to take over ā€˜The Metaverseā€™ that consisted of 7 different Constellations with about 40 Planets total. Each Planet could be built up with defenses to slow down and hopefully stop others from taking control. I was mainly an Engineer who built up the Planets after being conquered and also provided backup support in a combat Cruiser. I heard about Eve Online from the other players in chat and their reviews of this game was very negative, to the point that I said I would never sub with Eve and just plain didnā€™t think about Eve at all. About 6 months after I stopped playing that game in 2008, I was watching Battlestar Galactica on Sy-Fy channel and saw this [Eve Online TV commercial](https://youtu.be/_QImCw7WHOc?feature=shared). At first I thought it was part of the series until I saw the Eve Online logo at the end. I spent a couple weeks researching various guides and got hooked into trying Eve Online by watching [exploration vids by DNightmare](https://youtu.be/3sFupNSCGE8?feature=shared). Due to that I subscribed to the game and have been with Eve ever since. ---

A member of our BF42 server said this was an even harder game while lucking out and finding a really good FC who hated the nullsec blkā€™s already and made it our goal to be the ā€œRobin Hoodsā€ of the game where we steal from the rich (the null blks) and gave to the poor. (us) Very few if none will remember the chill that went up your spine the 1st time one of our corp members said ā€œGoons are comingā€. ---

Insult ? What insult ?! For us noobs in Provi the goons were something of a legend. They never really attacked us, or messed with us like PL and their allies did. So yeah, one day a pretty large goon fleet passed through KBP7-G. I even saw Mittens, flying a ship - which was something of an exception. No, they didnā€™t shoot any of us. And I felt a tiny bit smaller than usual, having seen the potential tooth fairy. That was in 2012ā€¦ ---

Sorry, my bad, I thought the meme was an insult, not a comparison. There is no other game out there where you can actually get the real life chill of combat against another human other than a real war apparently. Other games do live up to the hype but EVE seems to be even better than that simply because it is a lot more planning vs pew pew. Edit; And in case Mr Epeen didnā€™t get the hintā€¦ ---

I keep rediscovering EvE, and thereā€™s still a ton of things to try out after all these years šŸ™‚ Getting on a combat grid with supers/titans deployed still gives a thrill, knowing whatā€™s at stake (I have to grind for an EvE living šŸ˜ƒ ). How to stay alive while feeling like cannon fodder at times, itā€™s still ā€œspecialā€. Seeing any large bloc deploy its true assets on a grid is an awesome experience if you have some ISK in it. Wouldnā€™t miss it despite the TiDi and server strokes messing with the immersion of being in all out combat. ---
