Could have been worse, could have turned up at the Amarr coronation in a hoodie accompanied by my Khanid indentured servant on her leash.

Interesting take there but while stating such to tweak people in forums and local I don’t think they are practicing fascists.

The core of fascism is a strong central government with a dictator.

Being a tough guy isn’t even remotely fascist. In fact, “anarchist” is essentially the opposite of fascist… and that would be a much better description of the criminal and chaos elements you seem to hate so much.

Your judgement is as logical as judging people who play first person shooting games as murderers.

Fighting spaceships is the premise of the game. Why are you so surprised the game has fighting?

It’s a game. The competition is implied. Just because you don’t want to have to compete doesn’t mean everyone else at the monopoly board should avoid upgrading their properties.

This thread is crazy enough without someone (Shallanna) invoking Godwin’s Law. Please let it go.

Shallanna
The traditional EVE-forum alternative is to go with the combination of EVE player’s delusions about it being a PvP game, lying about it to suit themselves (denial), preference for no-risk one-sided combat on the few occasions when they do fight, and the deliberate targeting of rookies for griefing - obviously most of them have the genetic predisposition to psychopathy 🙂

Ghost is right that you don’t see anything similar to facism in EVE. But wrong about anarchists. Bittervets (in this thread!) whine about the evils of solo play. Psycho explanation: people who choose not to be the victims of griefing are “denying the psychos the right to play EVE as they want to” /lol.

They may not all be psychos, but they’re definitely irrational and deluded.

Note for the lunatics: having the genes for psychopathic tendencies doesn’t make psychos into murderers. Nobody’s tested MMO griefers of course, but it wouldn’t surprise me if “non-violent psychos” were over-represented. Note: I mean the real-world definition of griefing (which you crazies can look up if you need to), not the EVE ctypto-language version, which has been morphed into what everyone else calls ganking.

Ghost

EVE is a competitive **PvE** game with occasional, mostly one-sided, combat. It’s about ISK and ownership, not risk and fighting spaceships.

BTW: AFAIK the vets have never done anything big to make combat interesting in EVE, with the possible exception of a tiny number of interesting nullSec ownership wars. Instead they’ve happily adhered to the “sandbox principle”, which favors one-sided combat. Which may be the “smart” way to play in the sandbox, but only one side enjoys it.

EVE: “I’m not having fun unless you’re not having fun”.

It isn’t a good message for beginners.

Yeah I guess then CCP is delusional as well, considering that they’re publicly treating it like a PvP game all the time and even mention in the FAQ that the core of EVE is PvP, which means that the rest is built around it.

You keep doing this thing where you replace reality with what you want, just like you re-define words into what you want them to mean and then declare that everyone else is actually re-defining it.

You’re a pretty bad person, and it shows, despite that facade you’re trying to keep up.

Eve is pvp. Yes the game is built around ownership and take what you want, if you can. But we need more ways to steal/claim and lose our possessions. I would love to see more ways to get around the safety belt in eve.

Push us into fearing for our stuff, make us always think before act. ( today we don’t care if we lose most of the stuff… but make us use or fly stuff that covers 30-40-60% of our isk… then we might hesitate abit.

This is what makes eve so good. But the tread is not about what eve is in general.

EVE is a good game, but it’s not a PvP game. It’s a game that _allows_ PvP.

I wouldn’t mention it here except that it’s a thread about increasing the number of players, and its very difficult to improve something that’s misunderstood. Not impossible of course …

… but MMO history shows it’s **difficult** to grow an MMO _that needs new customers_ by changing it. I think it’s because MMO game providers don’t understand what makes new players stay.

EVE is sandbox game. Idk why it’s so difficult to realise that for some.

PVP, PVE, everything goes. It’s a sandbox, with room to build sandcastles and kicking em. And in this sandbox, every playstyle is valid.

I think that should be more advertised to people: Sandbox. Not just one thing, but many. All valid.

Hun

The “sandbox principle” has failed. It produced today’s EVE - and this thread is about **growing** today’s EVE.

Of course EVE might well grow dramatically due to the Korean localization. That would provide some much-needed cash flow, and cover the costs of providing and developing today’s EVE too. So maybe the sandbox will live on.

An improved pve system would help a lot for new players.

Better and more dynamic ai to old missions, more story arcs and epic arcs.

Some ship limited by gates (cruisers or bc’s maybe) engagements with bigger baddies like npc capitals. (Raids)

Default higher insurances for low tier ships up to a certain value.
Get more new (and old) players out fighting, even risk averse players will join. (Negated by concorddoken, then Pend doesnt cover you.)

Rework industry to more production pipelines.
If you have all blueprints required for x, add them all and get the end product.

Could even work to build fully fit ships for corp SRP. Auto build if mats to keep X ships ready and give ability to request prebuilt ship.

Voice over lore.

First, throwing more ISK at new players is not going to get more people to play the game.

Second, increasing the value of those sites will make more people farm those sites resulting in more competition for the new players that have no idea what they’re doing, and possibly less chances for those new players to have fun exploring in high sec.

Third, the thing new players need is content, not ISK. The reason people will stay in a game is because they enjoy the things they can do ingame. If you teach new players “if you explore a lot you can pay for the currently completely overpriced 500 plex to become omega for _free_!”, I’m pretty sure we’ll get lower player retention than we had before. Because instead of exploring the game they are taught to focus on grinding for ISK, somethnig that nobody right in their mind would or should do from the start in a new game.

New players do not need more ISK. They need fun things to do and the ability to comprehend how to do them.

Have you noticed you keep repeating the name of the person you’re talking to, every time, for no actually useful reason? It’s pretty much as pointless as signing your post. It’s not only horribly unnatural to keep doing that all the time, ignoring that it’s doubly-stupid on a forum, you try to put more weight into your words that way and fail miserably.

I’m not the troubled one around here. I’m not the one hiding behind “no face”, who isn’t playing. I’m not the one who makes up ■■■■, re-defines words and constantly wants to ignore actual reality for what I rather want, just because I can’t accept the actual one.

No, you silly, that’s **you**. You try so hard to be taken seriously and far too many fall for it, but holy ■■■■, the only reason you actually get this far is because most people around here are easily manipulated, used and exploited.

You’re just a more sane-_appearing_ version of Balos, the LSG alts, Fabulous Rod and all the other people who have come and gone. Come and gone. Always the same. You guys are no challenge at all.

</div>

Well … more or less that’s correct, but the people, who believe that they are capable of coming up with solutions, are actually hindering any and all progress, because most people simply aren’t actually capable of analysing a problem properly.

The ability to think and speak does not make intelligent. That’s something everyone needs to **learn**. Most people are absolutely incapable of seeing beyond their own noses, incapable of removing the filters in their brains that prevent them from being objective, absolutely most people have no clue about how EVE progressed, or the history and also don’t understand why that’s actually important in the first place.

A think tank is not built out of random people who are in no way or form qualified to be a part of it. If you want to find solutions to a problem that you can’t tackle on your own, then what you do is finding the people who are most capable of doing so …

… and not … well … this.

This is just a huge waste of time for everyone involved. Sure, most people have good intentions and I get that, but it doesn’t change the fact that those who are in no way or form qualified should not be a part of a solution-finding process simply because they’re not helping; because they’re ignorant; they’re incapable of properly analysing a problem.

The fact that every now and then one guy actually hits a jackpot isn’t a proper reason for threads like this. The really smart ones get drowned out by the masses of people who **think** they’re smart, yet aren’t.

By all means … go ahead. I’m not someone who would (or could) stop you, but I will sure as ■■■■ not stop pointing out certain bad “elements” who, in no way or form, actually want to **help**. All they want is **what they want** and the rest is secondary to them.

</div>

That is correct, but not having a discussion due to claming 99% of the ones participating is not of value is also not helping this thread. Those who think this is a wast of time probably head on to other threads.

I personally see a lot of ideas imbedded in a lot of just random talk, and if you take stuff from here and there, you see that many have long deep thoughts.

I know we won’t be the one changing eve, but if ccp would take the time and read the ideas, they themselves could work around all of our ideas, do the evaluations and use ( the smart people, as Solstice say) and make something good of this.

We’re at 240 posts now. Most posts are thoughts and ideas combined with op-/ or proposition. A common thing **everywhere** is that those who are capable the least are also those who will not accept when someone explains them why their ideas are bad, mindless, thoughtless and a waste of time … and there’s plenty of people who actually try to communicate that in a nice way.

Expecting CCP to go through all the posts, evaluating every single idea, is pure madness. Given that the smart ideas will always be drowned out by the bad ones means that it is virtually impossible to actually find the smart ones.

Truth, Facts and Wisdom in today’s age are being drowned by Wants, Desires, Delusions of Grandeur and Stupidity.

If **you** want to make it better, **you** (because it’s your thread) need to go through them all, pick the most sensible, reasonable, thoughful ones out and then proceed from there. Without trying to insult you, there isn’t even a guarantee that you’ll be doing it properly, with the necessary care and thoughtfulness required to not pick “what you want”, but “what’s actually good”.

That’s why think tanks exist in the first place. The masses are, thanks to decades of (rather intentionally) bad politics, in no way or form capable of governing themselves or helping improving the environment they’re living in.

You are right. And you Solstice have many valid points. And yes i am reading it all and its a good thing to accually conclude this thread with a summary post with ideas ( personally what I like, but also I am quite bias to what eve needs, except I want more risk in eve).

I also got plans in mailing ccp as always about what I got from this thread and then leave it to them.
To be fair that is all one like me can do in eve to do any impact, no matter how long I’ve played and how invested I am in almost everything in eve.

So yes I read all ideas( evaluating them individually and trying to expand them. I also read all thoughts from people who don’t like the stuff people come up with, and also evaluating those points.

Just don’t go back and forth with yes and no… this does not help.
