Create a line of best fit, and you’ll see that on average it’s going down

So basically, since you can’t get rid of goons you need CCP help?

> Um, wat? Any artificial maximums would be worked around by creating more alliances. You won’t fix the problem through mechanical limitations like that. You’ll only annoy and piss off your player base instead.

Thats not true, actually.

An example can be given when we create instanced-forms of content. The have excellent forms of control over player to ratio balance rates. That is a hard, mechanical wall for content.

Reducing maximums and limiting space will break up alliances into smaller groups, there is no doubting this; however what changes fall after that will dictate if “alt alliances” or "larger (in terms of member count) coalitions will be viable or not.

For example, by breaking up the population, and mechanically limiting the amount of standings that can be held (to say a limit of 5 allies) we can break up those groups and solidify them as individual entities. Sure you might still have goons 1, goons 2, etc in a single coalition, but then they’d alienate themselves from other coalition interactions. The reason for this is because large scale engagements depending on overview settings, and by modifying the overview settings in so to not allow displaying of the identity of neutrals, you’d invalidate the “out of game” mechanic of team work.

The end result would be many more coalitions much more pvp, and more more meaningful coalition/allied bonds.

If you do an all time since the birth of eve sure.
But if you look at recent history it is going up, which means there is no need to mess with it to make it go up, since it already is.
Additionally the main downwards force on it is the mpi which ccp just provided an upwards force on with a rorqual nerf.
What you should be worried about is the spi which is going through the roof, and the ppi is starting to follow.

That is a lie.

The server metrics are showing eve dropping in population, from 31k (concurrent) over the last year, to 22k average over the last month.

Eve is declining in population rapidly.

Wat? It takes about 30 seconds to update standings for an alliance. That is all that would need to be done. No overview settings changes need to be made if they’re already setup properly.

It happens every year during summer. But don’t let little things like reality and historical precedent stop you from your D000000M! saying. 🙄

It takes 30 seconds now, however, if we impose the changs i am suggesting, the standings would grow over the course of a few weeks to month. Removing instant standings form being a thing.

Since you can sort overview by ticker/alliance (under the purposed system) and your limited to 5 allies, you’d only see a few reds/allies, and loads of neuts which you could not distinguish easily who is frienamies.

This would invalidate null-coalition blobbing making it unpractical to manage in larger fights. The end result, the coalitions have no more demand for interaction based on blobbing alone, and thus mega-coalitions like honeybadger, cfc would cease to exist on their current scale.

Yes they would still be large, so blobbing would matter still, but not nearly as much as it does. This would downscale clusters of capitals, helping to validate, and encourage more equal level capital and super engagements, as the blobbing of mega coalitions are a result of their population sizes.

all around, if you reduce the coalition sizes, you improve the entities value, social interaction, balance power, and increase pvp frequency.

Invalid claim. Over the last 5 years, the average online has dropped from 38,000 to 22,000.
This is not a “summer trend” oh, and by the way “its not summer yet”.

It is spring break for a lot of people in the US. And you might want to have a look at this, in particular click the “5y” option at the top to see the last 5 year averages. Looks pretty steady to me. That 31k average is only as high as it is because of the massive player spike from the game going free to play, you don’t seem to be taking that into consideration.

you do realize this game use to have 60-65k online right?
This game has lost around 68% of its peak population rates. The game is definitely declining and not by some functional small amount.

The game has dropped 10k average players, that means it likely dropped around 40k active accounts. its not some sort of 1-2 month binge for snowboard, or surfing. People straight left, and your delusional if you think that the population is doing anything but dropping.

Ill be here to remind you when we lose another 10k, lord of light willing.

Yes. And? Now it doesn’t. So what? Nothing stays the same forever. What is your point?

The changes you propose would be effectively the same as what happened to Bell Telephone when it’s company and monopoly was broken up. All of those companies are now part of AT&T and nothing has really changed.

It never had this as a running average. It had 65k as a special peak during an event where CCP encouraged everyone to log in every account they had just to make a record number logged in.
Also I can point at 1 month running averages of 19k 3 years ago, therefore a 22k running average is actually increased if I use that as a reference.
The fact of the matter is logins have been relatively steady over the last few years with some typical seasonal fluctuations, and occasional blips because people raged over something.

Also you know how creepy it is when you sign off an out of character post with a GoT reference, it says you either have taken to believing a made up fantasy religion IRL or you can’t separate between reality or fantasy. Neither of these are good things.
