Use nanofibers instead of inertial stabilizers, since inertial stabs increase your signature vastly. So even if you get ganked, you can make it as hard for them as possible

This is a cautionary note to new players, from one of those evil gankers you’ve been warned about.

I’ve seen too many people like you load everything they own into an Iteron and just lose it.

The Iteron is not a ship suited to solo play, even in high security space. It requires a scout to escort it and warn of signs of danger, and simply must dock up and hide if it attracts any attention at all. There is no way to tank an Iteron enough to ward off predators, not even in 1.0 security space.

Those of us with a few billion ISK in the wallet can use an Iteron and just laugh the inevitable losses. New players cannot.

If you undock in an Iteron, or any other tech 1 hauler, a sizeable minority of players that see you will consider you a loot pinyata. Some of us will scan your cargo and make an informed decision as to whether or not you are worth attacking. Others will not even scan you but will shoot first and check loot later.

Hauling safely in EVE simply requires Omega status and one of a Blockade Runner, a Deep Space Transport (my preference), an Industrial Command Ship, a Freighter or a Jump Freighter. You still aren’t completely safe, but your diligence can protect you in those ships. Diligence cannot protect an Iteron.

An Alpha player that needs to haul should disregard the Iteron. The least bad ship for the job is a Gnosis with six cargo expanders in the low slots, a 50MN microwarpdrive and five shield modules in the mid slots, and anything (I suggest energy neutralizers to try to shut off enemy warp scramblers) in the high slots.

This Gnosis will avoid attention, warps faster and can endure more damage than a tech 1 hauler. It’s not great, but it is better than any tech 1 hauler.

Anyone suggesting that you use a Tech 1 hauler is doing one of three things. They are trolling, or griefing, or advising you on something they are clueless about.

You have been warned. Do not fly the Iteron, or its equivalents in other races.

Thats what i was thinking too. You will be a gank magnet if you load too much stuff of value on it. All those cargo extenders will make it so weak a stiff breeze will kill it.

It might be ok, your hauling stuff of low value like minerals or ore. But you would be better off using a Miamsos for ore or Kryos for minerals, the special holds gives more room than the MarkV.

Even a purely tank fit Iteron just can’t do the job it is intended to, except for the narrow niche of use within a quiet system (for example, moving minerals from a station to a private citadel in the same system), or slipping under the radar in a cheap, disposable ship to collect Planetary Interaction commodities from your planets in lowsec or wormholes.

As a comparison, an Iteron with 80 million ISK worth of materials in it (example: 800 units Robotics, which is 4800 m^3 and so fits in a pure tank Iteron) is a better target for for-profit gankers than my Occator would be if it had 500 units Adaptive Invulnerability Field II (i.e. 1.5 billion ISK at today’s prices), because the Occator is ridiculously hard to kill.
