Has anyone here ever run several similar jobs across a vast number of accounts. You tend to autopilot it in your brain. Then one day you start and accidently cancel a job rather than the next.

I think this is a very poor UX, and I also think that it does not make sense either in terms of gameplay and reality of a production facility. There should be some kind of asset recovery from a terminated job and most definitely if cancelled within a hair of a second of creation.

I guess autopilot is the wrong word to use in this game because of what else it implies. Automaticity is perhaps better, it’s something that UX designers need to be aware of.

I understand the frustration. It’s clearly a choice they made a long time ago, not bad UX. Pressing the button is a commitment, that’s how they designed it. Can’t even think of a single action that is not a commitment of sorts in the game.

Building a house is a commitment as well, but when it falls through you still have the shell of what was accomplished as well as any supplies left to sell on, and we are living in the space future here! No. This is a decision based on simplicity and support not commitment, commitment is the spin on the decision.

</div>

Building a house in real life is good deal different. There are plenty of games where the simple act of manufacturing something is also chance based - with complete loss of materials, and often involving weeks of preparation and grinding if the job fails to produce anything.

Next time, don’t go into automated mode ? Any mistake in EvE has a price, whatever the action. If you feel it’s unfair, file a support ticket. Maybe a kind GM will revert the mistake (but I wouldn’t hold my breath).

I really do not want to pry into comparisons because I feel it would be next to impossible to have an actual 1:1 with the eve experience. I am purely writing to garner support to add this to the list of look ins whenever they finally decide to modernise some of the poor UX’s (im looking at you as well PI)

You have the right to make mistakes in EvE. You can try to complain about the possibility to make mistakes. The result is predictable.

mistakes in eve online should be between players, not the UI shallowing stuff.

I wont be hinting to the value of the job, but it has caused a painful inconvenience in the production pipeline.

Photon in the industry window is extremely bad. In the old UI, the button turned red when you tried to cancel a job, clearly telling you that you are about to do a bad thing. In Photon, the button stays the same and makes it very hard to comprehend effortlessly what you are about to do. That’s only one of a plethora of things in the Industry window alone that got much worse with Photon.

At least those UI/X improvements are very possible. Look at the Jump Clones tab in the Character window. You have separate buttons for Jump, Rename and Destroy, and the Destroy button is red by default. It is absolutely possible to improve the UI when it comes to the code. It’s just that CCP has no motivation to do it.

> But it is not two decades of fine, as another poster said, since the photon UI’s introduction the industry UX has suffered. It seems that you just want to invalidate other people’s experiences with your own experience.

You can’t keep hopping from one foot to the other.
Foot #1: Your OP (Original Post) and its title **are about losing assets when you cancel a job** (which may be a bad UX (User eXperience). just like losing a ship).

Foot #2: The UI (User Interface) buttons for starting and stopping are the same, arguably not a good thing if one is not paying enough attention.

While there is a vague connection between losing assets because you inadvertently canceled a job by less than ideal properties and positioning of UI elements, latching on to changes of Photon is a shift from your starting position that doesn’t do anything for losing assets.

So what is it then ?

1. Do you want some degree of asset recovery from (inadvertently) canceled jobs ?
2. Do you want changes to the indy part of the Photon UI to prevent you from inadvertently canceling jobs ?
3. Both ?
4. Do you want asset recovery for any canceled indy job ?

I see fairness in 2., and like many players I’m not a fan of Photon. A UI should be geared to its task, and Photon is hardly an improvement over the old UI.

I do not see fairness in 1. or 3. or 4. because making “mistakes” as an industrialist is not per se different from making mistakes while flying a ship.

I hope that finally clarifies my position on asset recuperation, the subject of your OP.

I’m sorry that I didn’t spell out, in capitals, that I’m okay with two, three, etc buttons, my “subconsciousness” can handle any number of buttons because I _pay attention and try to avoid automated mode as much as I can_ lol.

That still doesn’t bring your assets back, which is what you asked for in post number 1 (you didn’t ask for buttons). Are you okay with that ?
