Looks more like a lack of situational awareness combined with an environment where there are so many ding ding ding messages in the feed that it just becomes noise players start to ignore.

It uses an algorithm based on what it thinks will keep you watching.

While the OP seemed to be complaining about the tone of the reply more than the verdict of the reply itself, I must ask if it is possible to verify outages with an ISP. They must have an outage map history, right? Sure, people can pull their ethernet cable out, but can they fake the ISP’s records?

If possible, claims of service outages (power or internet) should be verified by CCP instead of outright dismissed with prejudice.

</div>

Irrelevant.

CCP cannot take responsibility for anything other than

A failure of their own server.
or
A failure of their network apparatus from the server to the exterior wall of the data centre.

Anything beyond that, including the customer’s own equipment, isp, undersea cables etc cannot possibly be CCP’s responsibility.

</div>

Assuming that the person could prove the outage via the ISPs outage history, reimbursing someone for a ship lose during a provable outage is not taking responsibility for the outage. It would just be the decent thing to do.

Nope.

As soon as you do that for one player you’re doing it for any and all.

Then it’s no longer “the decent thing to do” it’s just “giving people stuff for free for no good reason, and actually incurring costs in doing so”

Why shouldn’t they do it for everyone, if people could prove it was a legit outage?

_“Giving people stuff for free”_? You mean reimbursement?

And what cost is incurred by reimbursements? You either pay a subscription or you don’t. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Apparently, it is “rocket surgery” seeing as you didn’t answer the questions.

**Why shouldn’t they reimburse everyone for lost items lost in a specific manner?** They currently do this already in regard to things they will reimburse you for. There was a time my drones literally vanished into thin air. CCP reimbursed me and replaced them. By your logic they shouldn’t have because now they’ll have to reimburse everyone whose items disappear for no reason.

**How is reimbursement _“giving people stuff for free”_?** I already paid for the items and I didn’t lose them thru any fault of my own.

**What cost is incurred by CCP by reimbursing players for the lose of items in situations outside of their control?** It cost them nothing as far as I can tell. Please, explain how it costed them money to replace my drones? It actually cost me ISK I shouldn’t have to spend because I don’t have time to waste waiting for their response and bought new drones before they replaced the ones that disappeared.

Again, I didn’t say anything about it being anyone’s responsibility. I said it would be the decent thing to do.

If you could answer the question, there would be a point.

I assume you can’t bring yourself to answer the question seeing as you realize you spoke out of turn and have no answers. Okay. So you spoke out of turn but lack the maturity to just admit it. Gotcha. It happens, sir. No need to get insecure and snarky.

Have a great rest of your day.

Because players would game and abuse the system, that’s why. Every time they lost a ship they would just contact CCP saying they lost their ship due to “insert bull\*\*\*\* reason here”…

In this scenario, the ISP or electric company would have to confirm the outage. We’re not talking about people just claiming their connection dropped and CCP taking them at their word.

You obviously care more about getting free stuff than I do tbh I just do not see this as important as you do.

Loss of items outside of their control? The cost of this is the time for them to investigate and find out who the ISP is, where the cloudflare is at, or if you actually unplugged your ethernet.. thats investigating time and cost that they shouldn’t be doing.
when they can simply say, “if its not our fault, we’re not going to reimburse”.

you’re drones just disappearing, yea thats probably a server thing, so thats a legit reimbursement. but cause the internet went out, or a storm knocked out power etc.. thats not CCP’s problem.

In ISK. We’re talking in-game currency. I mean, if we don’t pay for stuff in-game then we can’t get free stuff in-game either or everything is already free, which dismantles that other dude’s troll arguments. I’m not sure what you goal was with that statement.

There is no cost. _“Time for them to investigate”_ does not affect their revenue. It’s customer service’s job to deal with customer issues. As I’ve repeatedly pointed out, this is under a hypothetical scenario in which they would be getting outage information from the ISP or electric company. Either the ISP/EC confirms the player’s customer status and the outage time or they don’t.

> [@Geo\_Eclipse\_Oksaras](#):

For the Nth time. No one said your ISP or local power issues are CCP’s problem. I said it would be the decent thing to do. For example: If I see an emaciated dog lying on the road it’s not my problem, but it would be a decent thing for me to get it some food. Or if I saw a mother buying diapers and she was short 2 dollars it’s not my problem, but it would be a decent act to cover her.

And who is going to _pay_ all the extra customer service employees to answer all the additional customer issues that will be ticketed once CCP expands the policy of investigating and reimbursing ship loss to include causes outside CCP’s own fault?
