Which puts us back in the problem of fleet commanders getting primary. A ship that puts a problem in rather than a solution.

How is one meant to reload probes into a probe launcher without a cargo bay? Or where do the probes go on recall?

Why the 99% reduction in target painter effectiveness? The ship will never do any damage on its own nor do I see massive fleets of just Monitors target-painting others to death. Even the use of i.e. 3 Monitors with unrestricted TPs will mean that 3 ships are not dealing any damage opposed to i.e. 1 Monitor and 2 normal cruisers. Nor does it stop one or the other side in a conflict of fielding as many as they see fit. Having an effective target painter on it would not completely shift the focus onto the FC, but leave a small incentive to kill the ship anyway in cases where it was fitted with a TP. If we are going to put FCs into wheel chairs (for their safety) don’t they deserve a little toy at least?!

How about an item that when activated broadcasts the target for the fleet. No activation cost. Fits in high slot and gets on killmails. Makes targeted ship glow in red. Only available on this ship.
Perhaps 2 different modules, primary and secondary targeter. These cause aggression ofc.

I dont do fleets so unsure if it would be nice. Only something i thought about.

WIth 90% resists its WAY harder to kill then normal ships with resists around 70-80. Its sig radius is of 40 freaking 40 thats almost like a frigate.

If he stays bit back away from webs oribting with AB hes gona be more then fine.

Personaly 95% resists would be better but still 90% is quite good. The dmg reduction is insane when it comes to it. Try it with the assault frigate and turn on the assault dmg control. Youll see you need a lot less logistic power to be kept alive unlike the rest of the fleet.
Imagine getting hit for 10 000 k hit on 0 resists. Normal ship lets say has 70% resists that lets 3000 dmg thru
this ship has 90% resists that lets thru 1000 dmg only combined with the tiny sig radius making it really hard to hit if its orbiting aorund with AB your gona have a really hard time headshoting. You are better of killing logis first then aiming for FC from the start.

Lol, sort of true.
Out where the monitor is likely to see use you’re not going to see a lot of assault frigates, they would just die pointlessly.
Just out of curiosity, what happens to that Assault frigate once the assault damage control finishes its cycle?

Don’t really need to kill logi, a few blackbirds will take care of them without much trouble, leaving DPS to get rid of the risk averse FC quicker.

And that 90% resists isn’t worth piddle when there is 300 or 400 ships doing 1 damage type (roughly 220k damage per volley) all shooting the same target. I think that’s 22k damage getting through per volley. That is being generous and looking at it from a small fight scenario.
In a large fight, that one FC could have 2 or 3 “fleets” of subcaps + capitals all calling him primary at the same time.

The Monitor will do nothing but make its pilot a great big - “You Must be taken out of the fight” target if used for the type of fights it is supposed to be designed for - It will be left alone on the field to watch the fleet die if used in smaller fights.

New fun thing to do - Web and bubble the opposing Monitor. Kill everything red around it, then ask the Monitor pilot how much fun was had.

It’s as much a target as it is bait. Maybe you’ll only think its the ship the FC is in. How much time will you waste on shooting it to find out it isn’t?

> Come back when you can be prepared to let yourself die so that others might live. Or continue to tell your fleet they’re not good enough to fight without you.

For NPSI fleets, the FC loss isn’t about either of those things.

NPSI as a community initiative, whether Spectre Fleet, Bombers Bar, one off fleets, etc. have some aspects that make it easy to determine out of game, who the FC is. The very nature of the communities means it’s trivial to look up who the FC is online.

For example, here with spectre fleet: [https://spectrefleet.com/](https://spectrefleet.com/)

It’s also trivial, because they are public access fleets, for defenders in an area to put spies into fleet to gather intel.

Those aren’t issues that arise in closed fleets.

One of the limitations of NPSI, and Spectre is a good example of this, is that a lot of people new to pvp join the roams. They provide a good opportunity for newer players and players new to pvp, to gain some experience in a low pressure environment, where fleet members aren’t expected to be perfect in their execution.

In that regard, they provide a great service for the community, and content for a lot of people.

The downside of both of those aspects though is that:

1. It’s easy for a defence fleet to identify and headshot the FC
2. Fleet cohesion drops when the FC dies (as it isn’t always possible to name a secondary FC in these fleets, when there is little knowledge or familiarity with other members of the fleet. Sometimes it is).

So when a fleet forms, jumps 20 gates into null, finds content and then the FC is immediately headshot, it’s not a great experience for the fleet members.

Nothing at all about not being prepared for loss (personally the loss is irrelevant and it isn’t always possible to provide good content for the fleet or opponents when the FC is headshot), nor about not being prepared to be ambushed. Most FCs brick tank their ships to try to avoid the immediate headshot, however even logi pilots are regularly flying logi for the first time, so not always effective.

It’s more a PAIN in that people looking to provide content for a group of people, end up being killed immediately, becuase the tools that help NPSI fleets, also work against the FC.

However, for me, this Monitor ship is the most un-EVE thing CCP have done in recent years.

None. If the guy in it is an FC, you’ve wasted no time. If he’s not, then we’ll know that. You get to know who your enemies’ FCs are.

If we’re wrong, then (since you didn’t clarify), either a)we think he’s an FC when he isn’t, and b)we don’t know he’s an FC.

If (a) then he’s a pretty expensive piece of non-performing dead-weight. But since he’s on their FC lists, he’s probably a backup, at least, and so removing him contributes to degrading on-grid command and control capabilities.

if (b) then once we finish killing the recognized FCs, he’s probably next _and_ he’ll go on the list.

Seems to me like the new ship is promising you a lot of fun. You’re already worked out over it. 🙂

Not really. It’s already SOP for FC ships. Most of what we had to ‘work out’ was ‘wow, this ship is terrible because it sticks your FC in a useless lump with only half a tank.’

Played the game for 4 years, till about 2012/3-ish… have been playing in very large fights in scouting and leadership roles, as well as FCing some roams and smaller skirmishes.

… and picked myself out of the mothballs to +1 sending CCP to the drawing board. This is not the solution you’re looking for. Instead, try to realize that there is no real problem here.

So, despite the largely negative feedback from multitudes of _different_ people you’ve gotten here you’ve still decided to go through with this based on the few that like repeating themselves despite the flaws being pointed out in releasing such a niche ship. Hell you even added the probes and way to whore for killmails that you were even against.

This is a problem of the player’s own making. It should have fallen upon the players to realize the flaws in our own command structure and adapt.

Hell if you really wanted to make command ships harder to kill all you ever had to do was add a rig for existing command ships (dessy and bc) that gave bonus resists/sig reduction at the expense of PG/CPU/cargo. Hell even a module similar to the NSA for carriers would have worked in which all offensive modules are too cap intensive to be used while it is active but provide bonuses to resists/ewar/incoming reps. Anything but this completely niche POS hull.
