> The GPGPU are NOT USED for graphics. So the graphic improvements are unrelated to crypto. It’s actually the opposite, a better GPU is a worse GPGPU because it will have chipsets dedicated to a task.
>
> But it IS unrelated to BTC.

ASICs are related to mining BTC. Since an ASIC chip is really just a GPU chip designed with Bitcoins algorithm in mind, It’s just a type of GPU or an array of GPU’s. The “ASIC” just means Application Specific Integrated Circuit, So, they’ve taken a GPU and made it application specific to bitcoin and it’s blockchain.

It is the fact that each GPU or ASIC has thousands or more cores that make it useful for graphics, crypto, and other scientific practices. Thousands upon thousands of cores working in a parallel fashion is what powers graphics and crypto.

So, any advance in the number of cores will be beneficial to anyone using it for any purpose, graphics, crypto, science, If AMD or Nvidia come up with a way of putting even more cores onto a GPU then those who manufacture ASIC processors will copy it and implement it into their designs. You have noticed the TDP on GPU’s come down and the efficiency go up. ASIC use much less electric than they used to.

My claims are 100% fact and easy to confirm. Your knowledge seems to ignore a lot. You actually think there’s a major difference between ASIC, GPU and GPGPU, when all 3 concepts are simply based on a multiple core approach. which is the entire reason why they are used in the fashion you see today.

No its not.

G stands for Graphical.

Your facts are wrong. An ASIC is not a GPU.

Your claim is 100% false. ASIC is not GPU. GPU is not ASIC.

And yes there are major differences. No, they are not simply based on multiple core approach.

GP stands for General Purpose ; while AS stands for Applicaiton Specific.
Now you are saying that application specific is the same as general purpose. That’s not fact, that peak stupidity.

You have no idea what are GPU, GPGPU, or ASIC, and yet you come talk about it. You are so ignorant you can’t even understand how stupid your claims are.

“Application Specific Integrated Circuit”, the circuit part of this describes a GPU.

“Application Specific Integrated” on it’s own doesn’t mean anything.

No it does not.

Your definition is wrong . A GPU is not an ASIC, and an ASIC is not a GPU. They are mutually exclusive.

A GPU is not an ASIC. an ASIC is not a GPU.

Your question makes no sense to start with. A GPU AND an ASIC both _contain_ circuits.

My question made sense to google, it gave me this answer;

A graphics processing unit (GPU) is **a specialized electronic circuit designed to rapidly manipulate** and alter memory to accelerate the creation of images in a frame buffer intended for output to a display device. … The term was popularized by Nvidia in 1999, who marketed the GeForce 256 as “the world’s first GPU”.

more meaningless questions.

No it does not. Because an ASIC is not a GPU.

You can have ASIC for whatever you want. You don’t need parallel computing .

An Asic is an array of circuits, the actual circuits are called GPU’s.

So again, when referring to a device that mines BTC called an ASIC, what does the “circuit” part of it’s name refer to?
