The thread title is calling it a scam. It isn’t here to provide information, it’s here to attack bitcoin because of the possibility of nfts and eve. You people don’t even have your sights set straight and can’t tell the difference between NFTs and bitcoin. You just know they’re related. You can have bitcoin transactions in video games without the NFT part.

This thread is pathetic in all honesty, You’ve got people who think crypto is a scam trying to tell miners and industry experts what’s what.

But guess what your ignorant views will not change anything.

- if people require privacy when doing transactions online they will buy a crypto currency
- If people want to mine crypto they will do so and earn money
- if people want to buy lots of BTC directly for investment they will
- if countries want to adopt BTC as legal tender they are free to do so
- if people want to scam using crypto they can do so, but be prepared to serve a long jail sentence when they are caught.

This video has a very interesting analysis. The benefit to El Salvador is they might be able to protect their money due to BTC having no inflation.

Go ahead and pretend what’s happened in El Salvador isn’t factual, and that they would be better off without bitcoin due to it being a scam.

Venezuela seems to be the next country to adopt BTC, wow so many lost everything due to their currency failing.

Could we say then that investing in BTC is investing in countries like El Salvador and Venezuela?

I am very excited about what’s happening with Bitcoin, so many possibilities.

BTC will have a finite number of coins which is 21 million, this is what will make the value of it increase as more countries start to adopt it.

Is there anyone on this thread from El Salvador or Venezuela? I’d love to get your views.

Thanks to crypto and the desire to get everyone involved, satellite internet connections are becoming common in rural areas around the world, I think this is a good thing because it will also bring job opportunities to rural areas. We could start to see rich traders in the 3rd world. this is cool.

@Aaron

I am too lazy to read all the back and forth, but it doesn’t look like you got a straight answer to the difference between ASIC’s and GPUs

The difference is that an ASIC is designed to do just one thing. You could not use a bitcoin mining ASIC to do everything a GPU does, but a GPU can do everything the ASIC can do, just slower because it was not optimized for that specific function. Some of its resources or processing time is wasted on unnecessary complexity or portions of its resources are being under utilized (when it is mining cryptocurrency).

GPUs, in contrast to CPUs that are almost completely generalized, are optimized around performing lots similar operations on lots of data. Coordinate transformations to move and rotate 3D objects and the like. This works out good for people trying to do hashes, too, by happenstance, but there is still extra fat that can be trimmed if all you want to do is calculate hashes as quickly as possible for the lowest energy cost.

A ‘circuit’, it its most general definition, is just what it sounds like. The lap an electron runs from the negative to the positive charge of a power source. A loop of wire is a circuit, A chip with a single logic gate is a circuit (Called an integrated circuit since it’s all its parts are integrated into the chip), and anything more complex than that is also as long as it makes a closed loop of some kind that allows current to flow. CPUs, GPUs and ASICs are just complicated electron mazes that we figured out will do useful things for us. The simpler the circuit, the more efficient it is and the smaller the list of operations it can perform.

I don’t know if this answers your questions or if you still wanted the questions answered or even if you wanted a third party answer when you were asking someone else directly. Still, for anyone wondering and content with a simplified answer that’s probably decent enough to get the gist, there it is.

\*Oh, I should mention that ASICs are definitely, as is in their name, Application Specific. This means that there are ASICs that are totally unsuitable for crypto mining.

Well the first GPUs were also ASICs, only rendering a frame on a screen. it’s only by 2000 that they started accepting programs and later on they became GPGPU with actual turing completeness.

I told him that ASIC were application specific while GPGPU are … general purpose, which makes them totally different, but he keeps claiming that “industry expert” told him that an ASIC has GPUs inside.

I think he is plainly trolling and saying random ■■■■. Like a baboon throwing feces on people, then “I did not do it”.

Yes, that was my 1st point. Geten claimed that a GPU cannot mine BTC directly, He is incorrect, I can using CGminer.

My second point is an “ASIC” is not an accurate name for a device known as a BTC ASIC. As you say an ASIC can refer to any circuit which is application specific, so this is not an accurate description of an ASIC used to mine BTC. The main chip inside a BTC ASIC is a form of processor so why is it named as the category it fits into and not what it actually is.

Why not call the main chip inside the BTC ASIC a BTC Processing Unit since the actual chip is application specific to BTC, and then call the actual miner a BTC miner which features an ASIC called a BTC Processing Unit?

I think putting Bitcoin miners in charge of naming convention was a mistake. I’m unsure why I have to refer to the whole device as an ASIC.

No I did not.
You are a plain liar.

I claimed that NOT ALL GPU can be used to mine. Which you translated in your inability to read as ALL GPU CAN NOT, which is wrong but again shows your need to make strawmen since you have no correct argument.

LOL, is denying something your default when looking silly? and then denying that you denied something?

Good, imagine all those intellectuals investing in bitcoin. Are the average Americans still entitled to loot/plunder nikes and other nessesities for a certain amount of dollars in the big cities?
