> It’s a fun game with rules, but the most fun about that game is that all those rules are merely a framework and that every rule has exceptions, because many cards break one rule or another.

Please don’t make comparison that make no sense
In MTG they removed the ante two years after the initial game release

> **[Ante](https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Ante)**
>
> Ante refers to both an optional variation of Magic and the ante zone used only in such ante games. It also refers to the act of adding a card to the ante zone, but it is not currently defined as a keyword action. Ante was designed by Richard Garfield...

This is what allows to have “fun” game.
In Eve, you lose your ship when you lose a fight.

> [@Gerard\_Amatin](#):
>
> “Play one land per turn” and you have cards that allow you to play multiple lands.

“ship have 1 warp strength” and you have the venture.
That’s not breaking the rules.
In MTG, breaking the rules in a comparable manner is like

- “you can’t lose the game and your opponents can’t win” [platinum angel](https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/card/details.aspx?name=Platinum%20Angel)
- “whenever an opponent would gain life, he loses that much life instead” [tainted remedy](https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/card/details.aspx?name=Tainted%20Remedy)
- “whenever a land controlled by an opponent enters, if that opponent had other land enter this turn, he chooses one land he controls and put it in his hand” [confounding conondrum](https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=492629&part=Confounding+Conundrum)
- “your opponents can’t search his library” [ashiok](https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=461947&part=Ashiok%2c+Dream+Render)
- “whenever a card owned goes in an opponent graveyard from anywhere, exile that card”. [leiline of void](https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=466861)

When saying “break the rule”, I am not talking about an exception or new value to the existing model. I am saying, this is something that makes what is winning, losing. It makes a positive value become negative. It makes the whole idea of what is good in a fit, worthless.

You call that “shaking the meta”. I call that imbalance. I call that not caring about the game.

> [@Gerard\_Amatin](#):
>
> So here I am looking at some people who get angry and start typing IN ALL CAPS

I write in ALL CAPS because you are ignoring trivial things, repeatedly.

> [@Gerard\_Amatin](#):
>
> And just like in MTG a rule-breaking card isn’t necessarily a game-breaking card.

It just has nothing to do.
Take your comparison back, it is completely stupid. MTG is MTG, Eve is Eve.

> That is _completely wrong_ and basically _every other game_ has understand this. Bleeding or Poison for example is a standard effect in the Diablo Games and _of course_ the damage over time effects deal LOWER damage in the same time than regular attacks. Same for PoE, the initial number might be higher, but still not nearly as high as a continous regular attack over the same duration. And in BOTH games you can resist poison and you can resist bleeding.

Those games are players versus environment though, where bleeding and poison are - I assume - a new attack that functions differently than other attacks by nature of being a damage-over-time effect.

While I don’t play the Diablo games, I do know bleed and poison from Warframe, where these damage-over-time effects do have the ability to also bypass resistances: bleed bypasses armor, while poison bypasses shield.

Of course warframe too is a player-versus-environment game like diablo and not really comparable to a player-versus-player environment like EVE, and of course shield and armor in warframe don’t function the same as in EVE, but it means that even though an attack is a damage-over-time effect I don’t see why it cannot also bypass some of your defences like your resistances.

Well if you intentionally misinterpret my posts as ‘not caring about the game’ because you disagree with it, I do not think that whatever you say to me is relevant enough for me to reply to the rest of what you say.

This is relevant to the same extent that ССP broke the null block through their blackout and after a few months lost thousands of people in the game. This was also just a try. When an innovation breaks the very logic and meta of the game, people simply leave.

Even if that idea is bad.

You are ignoring all the arguments for the sole reason that the idea to have OP ship pleases you.

Heck, that whole post could be sumed up as “I don’t care about the game”.

Just because it does not break YOUR gameplay, you think it’s okay to break others

I think I guess why you like it so much. As usual, it’s about suicide ganking.
let’s take a 200k HP freighter, total damage dealt is 150k, in .6 it’s 14s concord delay so effective 10.7k DPS, so 21.4k DPS before resists, +800 from guns so effectively 27.5 times as much as a catalyst that costs 14M . So if its \<390M price then it’s worth using it instead of cats.

There’s a Dutch saying “zoals de waard is vertrouwt hij zijn gasten” that would apply to how you interpret my posts about this new weapon.

I found an English translation of “ill doers are ill deemers”, or if I were to translate it more freely “people assume others have the same flaws they have”.

My point is: I am not saying that I like this new strong weapon as part of the game **out of self-interest**.

I like this new strong weapon as part of the game shaking up the meta because I think it can be a good fun new addition to the game.

I rarely ask for changes to the game out of self-interest. My interest is usually to get a better game, even if that goes against my self-interest. I’m the kind of player who prefers a fun varied and balanced game over a game where I have the best position. I would even argue for nerfs against my own tricks if I believe those tricks are too strong. I don’t care much about winning, I care about fun gameplay.

Again, I’m not supporting this new weapon out of self-interest but doesn’t surprise me that you think I make my suggestions out of self-interest. After all, _zoals de waard is vertrouwt hij zijn gasten._

“shaking up the meta” is a nonsensical term.
Any change shakes the meta, does not need to break the balance.
That choice of words is hypocritical, as it pretends that this is not a bad thing for the game “it only shakes the meta”. LIAR. What we’ve been telling you, and you repeatedly ignored, is that this goes against the game balance. What made a ship balance was its relation between HP, resists, speed.
ALL those are thrown to the waste.

You are willfully ignoring any argument that goes against that thing.
You can’t be such an hypocrite without having a vested interest.

It’s not about disagreeing. It’s about you ignoring the argument, ignoring the math, ignoring the balance, and then claiming you care about the game.
You don’t.

You know what you say is wrong, but you still say it.
That’s the definition of a liar.
You know it goes against the balance of the game. It’s not shaking it, it’s breaking it. When you claim it’s only shaking it, you are a liar.

Nana, such screaming is basically the only chance that they reconsider at least _to a degree_ and might actually nerf them a bit even pre-launch. Doing just nothing and waiting is like waiting for an inevitable disaster. So scream, the louder the better. They need to _understand_ that the _base idea_ is flawed.

It’s like WotC adds MTG a (0) cost instant : “split second, can’t be countered, when you cast it exile every other permanent, you win the game” and you say “it’s shaking the meta”.

Even Okko, the Broko was banned because it broke the balancing rule that protecting planeswalker abilities are negative loyalty. Stop saying that balance and rules are not required to have fun.

That’s the point: the base idea of a high impact damage-over-time weapon isn’t flawed.

The execution may be flawed, overpowered even in the worst case, but that isn’t a reason to shout now that the entire idea must be deleted. Asking such a thing is unreasonable when CCP has already developed and announced the new weapons and ships, so it’s only logical that a call to delete such a weapon (like this thread) goes ignored.

Much better than loud unreasonable screams is to wait for the weapons to be released, gather data and show CCP the numbers of why you think this weapon is unbalanced, in which situations it is unbalanced and how it can be changed so that it becomes a balanced weapon.

If your premise is to nerf the new weapon into oblivion because you think it is a disaster, you’re not going to get anywhere except with the few other players who agree with you.

Until they are here, to which CCP could still adjust them before adding them to tranquility, nobody will know exactly how they’ll work… i think some people are getting over worked for no reason, or could be a good reason to get worked up… until they are in the game and we see the final numbers its all speculation at this point…

so lemme ask this, what about the breacherpods is so harmful that you guys hate the idea so much?
how would you all want to change the DoT when it comes to HP only… i like the idea of something that bypasses all resistances.

Nobody said that.
You’re ignoring the actual arguments, to focus on ones you just made up.

It’s ignoring resists, DPS scaling with target HP, ignoring evasion, which are flawed.
On top of being applied by something that deals damage even after leaving the battlefield.

They could have done it without those.
They could have made it a high impact DoT without those flaws.

Why do you keep mix up the arguments? There is nothing to say against a high-impact damage-over-time-system. The flaw is in _ignoring resists_ and _base damage on a percentage of raw HP_. It’s really not that hard to understand. You _punish_ people for skilling if you do it that way.
