Also it’s worth pointing out that there will be very few people on these forums who’ve had to work as hard at life to get what they want as me, and that most of the people I’ve met who have espoused all the “dog eat dog world, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, kiddo” horse manure have, like 90% of the time, been people who have lived their whole lives on easy mode. You don’t end up with a ■■■■ eating attitude if you’ve ever had to actually put in effort, you just don’t. So go eat a large aubergine sir. ---

Right. Don’t f\*cking presume to preach to me about hardship. This is currently the second time in my life I’m homeless, only this time it’s by choice. I’ve been on my own since 16, and I worked my way up from nothing to the point where I could choose to life a less stressful life, so check your attitude at the door. I’m not a part of your participation trophy, safe space bullsh\*t, and you have no f#cking clue what effort is. Sit on that aubergine and f^cking rotate on it, kid. ---

Then I spent 20 years in retail catering to entitled little sh\*ts. I have empathy, what I don’t have is sympathy. After the 50th time you have to listen to someone who pulled up in a Mercedes b!tch on their new iPhone that my store doesn’t take their food stamp card? Really hurts when it happens the day after your family just lost theirs because you got a 50 cent/hour raise over the cutoff. No, I worked for what little I’ve got regardless of the system trying to keep me perpetually locked within it. It’s not a lack of empathy to expect the same of others.
