I keep having the same situation where I am casually doing Hi Sec (.5) data/relic sites and a handful (4ish) of enemy ships will arrive, I’ll launch drones and be ready to fight and I’ll literally be one shot within seconds in a Magnate. My shields and hull don’t take any damage, I just end up in my shuttle and usually see something blow up in the distance, but I was not mid hack and I did not fail any hacks. I usually have like less than 10m isk I just don’t understand what is happening and why I’m getting suicided by pve in hisec ---

Can you post a screenshot of one of those loss mails? Also do you know what the name of the exploration site is that you do? It might help people find out what’s going on. ---

You’re not being suicide ganked. The cans in the site you’re doing are exploding when the hidden timer runs out. The thread linked in the post above has more info. ---

It happened to me the other day. Keep an eye out for ‘covert’ in the scanned site name. Per the post above you were destroyed by the site exploding. I’d heard of ghost sites but it didn’t occur to me that such risky content might spawn in highsec. Lesson learned. ---

The trick is to cargo scan the cans and only hit the one worth the most. If you’ve got decent hacking skills, you’ll have plenty of time to grab one can. Personally, I hit every one of these I see. The payout of the one can can be more than the ship I’m using, so easy risk/reward calculation there. I’ve got billions in Ascendancy implant blueprints that I need to sit down and make one day. ---

I’ll definitely give it a crack the next time I find one. I just missed it being a ghost site when I approached and didn’t even burn to the can. In total highsec mode, though I did notice the hacking game was of the harder variety when it came up vs the typically easier highsec sites. Half way through and everything inlcuding me exloded. My win rate on the harder hacks needs to improve. My hacking/archeology is at IV and I’m still using tech 1 ships and modules. ---

An Astero, with its higher analyzer bonus, will help boost your hacking a bit if you can afford it. I’d recommend biting the bullet getting those two skills to five ASAP. Exploration is always an easy, low investment, profitable gig to fall back on when the new thing you’re trying doesn’t pan out and you’re out of ISK. Even now that I’ve got Marauders and am training into Blops, I still use my exploration ship for lazy isk. There are some regions of New Eden where a single red relic can is potentially worth well over 100mil, so you want to train both. ---
