There is certainly some common ground there.

Right, but most importantly, from the Caldari perspective, you paid random Capsuleers to go to Athounon and hunt ships from our navy in our territory.

> I’m (not?) proud to have done it, but the “hero” in this scenario would be one who, early in our work, boarded a Caracal-class cruiser named “Acceptable Loss IV” to serve as crew, knowing full well that the bleak joke of the name was also a warning. The one who was willing to die all but nameless and unknown, only so that the work might move forward: that’s a hero

You are writing this as if it is supposed to be a negative thing.

> I’m naturally wary of absolute statements, but in my heart, the capsuleer who looks in the mirror and sees a hero sees also a liar. No one who risks so little while killing so many is worthy of such a title.

It is not about what you do. It is about what you do it for. I was raised to be a very wholesome noodle, and in many regards I still am, but one of the first things I learned after becoming a Capsuleer is that this cluster is not a friendly place, and that there are many external and internal threats who accost our culture kinetically and non-kinetically. The day I realized that, I decided that I would do whatever was necessary to protect my culture, including furthering it’s agenda, since that is the only way to keep up in the great game. To that end I have never experienced remorse, nor have I hesitated. Not with the Trigs, not with the Federal Defence Union, not with the Guristas, not with Sansha’s Nation, and not with the Drifters. My regret is that one girl can only inflict so much violence to reduce the number of threats. To that end I also regret that having to be nice entails flying logi.

> The real argument here, at least where I’m concerned, isn’t between you and ARC; I’m not one of their actual representatives– just a long-standing pilot. It’s between Ms. Tereven’s very, ah, honorable (or stubborn) determination that ARC is her ENEMY and my exasperation with same on the grounds that it might be principled, but it’s not nuanced and it’s not pragmatic.

ARC paid Capsuleers to hinder the Caldari Navy (which, I will remind you, I served in myself as a Baseliner) in the execution of it’s duty, by destroying it’s ships and looting classified video recordings from the wrecks. In doing so, it went against the interests of the Caldari State. It was naughty. And that puts it on the same level as all the other threats I have mentioned above.

> The topic of this thread is the Drifter Summit. Here, as elsewhere, she’s participating in its derailing. (As are you, but you’re like Ms. Kim– not worth trying to dissuade.) It’s not constructive or at this point even very interesting; it’s just loud.

It is not unnecessarily loud, solely because you do not understand why they are doing it. This is likely to warn other Caldari, that the nebulous cabal of independent Capsuleers, who are calling for greater technological proliferation, actively went against the State’s interests during a military operation, and caused the loss of navy ships and lives in the process, and should consequently not be trusted, to advise us on what the best path forward for our people should be.

I will also point out that Diana is a perfectly respectable walking combat record, as long as she refrains from communicating.

> Those wondering at the speaker’s high and holy tone might be interested to look back over her corporate and combat history, particularly during the Triglavian invasion.

Yet I, whose combat record is devoid of blemishes, and whose combat record during the Triglavian Invasion was [publicly lauded by capsuleers from all major powers](https://forums.eveonline.com/t/an-issue-with-niarja-system/273243/22), also acknowledge that ARC’s behaviour during the Serthoulde Campaign indicates that it does not have the best interests of our people at heart.

It should be said that, neither do the Triglavians, and I will always continue to advocate that their eradication should resume until all temporarily occupied systems have been liberated.

Why do you say this?
