It’s the general impression i get from what players say in the game and forums.

Ransomes aren’t trusted so few are paid. And to be fair, the last ransome i paid wasn’t honoured.

I like this concept, and it would be a really useful feature!  
I would use it in a heartbeat!

The simplest way would be to use duplicate courier contracts in some way. Keep collateral so people might actually send their implanted clones.

The inanimate clone should be an item in their cargo hold.

This would make it fun for pirates to gank, and then able to ransom back to the owner if it drops (as only the owner could install the clone as a jump clone and therefore keep the implants).

If you have your clone in your item hanger in station then you can install it in the clone bay, up to your usual jump clone limit.
