# Profile is for account or character?

Man I though I understood how profiles work.  
I have 2 profiles on my account. I can select either one to have the window layout setup and overview for what Im doing on any character.

I made a 3rd profile, and this ones unique to each character. Well, overviews right but the layouts not. Is there a sneaky setting somewhere to change what a profile is connected to?

You have two types of settings: account settings (UI, graphics and overview settings) and character settings.

In your settings folder you’ll find a file per account and a file per character.

Profiles allow you to make another settings folder with new account and character settings, which allows you to easily swap between UIs or between graphics settings. I personally have a low-graphics profile for multiboxing and a default profile.
