Not having this stops many mining moons. Please consider implementing this.

No ! Use an orca if you want to compress moon ore !

As mentioned, use an orca or just do it before ships could compress. Porpoise wasnt intended to use for moon compression.

That is 100% _ **your choice** _

Use Retreivers/Mackinaws like I do if you don’t want to empty the mining fleet every 2 minutes, or get an Orca.

What’s stopping you? The cost, or it’s maneuverability? Cost shouldn’t be an issue, because you’re already fielding a multi-billion ISK Athanor or Tatara. If maneuverability is the issue, just fit a Higgs rig, prop mod, and stay aligned to the moon mining beacon while slowly moving across the field. If trouble pops up in local or dscan, it’s pretty much insta-warp.

If the ore hold of your barge is filling up too fast with moon ore, you can store it in the ore hold of the Porpoise. It has a rather large ore hold for that porpoise, as well as a fleet hangar so you can easily share it without jettisoning.

Alternatively you could warp to a nearby structure to store your ore.

The neat thing about moon mining, as opposed to gas, ice or asteroid mining is that you’re guaranteed to be near a structure.

Never 👏 never 👏 never 👏 do this with your Porpoise, Orca, or Rorqual.

Always have a safe POS to align and warp to. You’ll be safe in the shield bubble while the timer expires and you can figure out what to do from there.

Your boosting ship is a sitting duck on the station until the aggression timer from the boosts runs out. I learned this the hard way with my first Porpoise. 😒

You don’t even have to dock to do this. There’s a button in the Item Selection window that will let you dump straight into your hangar from outside the station.

You’d have to wait out the timer before you could dock regardless. Then again, it’s not that difficult to turn off the boosts before you need to unload, so that you land on the station without the timer.

The timer gets in the way when you have to GTFO in a hurry, that’s where the safe POS comes in. If you check your hold before boosting, you’ll know every time.

You can also park an Orca or Rorqual just outside the POS shield and have it do the compressing while the Porpoise boosts and shuttles the ore. Neuts come in, it just moves back into the shield.

And thats fine and works and you can pulse compression. But youll arguing against something that a porpoise can already do for normal mining so why should it be different for moon mining?

Porpoise can’t compress ice, either. I’m sure, as with most things in EVE, it’s a risk vs reward thing. If you want to be able to compress moon ore and ice, you have to risk fielding an Orca.

Yeah, sorry I didn’t feel the need to state the obvious. 🙄

Risk vs Reward is a basic tenet of Eve. Want more reward, take a bigger risk. Don’t want the risk, the people who do certainly are going to be against you getting the reward.

Tell us why, other than you don’t want to click as much, you should get the benefits of moon ore compression without the risk of deploying an Orca to the belt? If you haven’t built or gotten an Orca out to nullsec, why should you get all the perks?

> [@ImYourMom](#):
>
> arguing against something that a porpoise can already do for normal mining so why should it be different for moon mining?

Because moon mining isn’t regular mining, duh. 🤨

If you went to a factory where they made aluminum soda cans, and asked them to make you steel soda cans, they’d tell you no. Yes, they can make cans, but their equipment isn’t going to be able handle the raw material.

What do you mean its not ‘regular’ mining? are you making this stuff up? youre just making some random blockers for the sake of it lol. Mining is mining, Orcas can compress, so why cant porpoise? Your argument is invalid because you can compress those anyway with a different ship lol. Its got nothing to do with it being different or regular or your random analogy of cans

Good job not getting the simple basic concept that there’s entry level mining then advanced mining. This is based on skills required, not mechanic involved. Missions are missions, the same mechanic with different skill levels required. 🙄

> [@ImYourMom](#):
>
> Orcas can compress, so why cant porpoise?

Simple. It takes more skills to run an Orca. No one would fly an Orca if the Porpoise could do everything, that’s basic sense. 🙄

> [@ImYourMom](#):
>
> Your argument is invalid because you can compress those anyway with a different ship lol.

Yes, because they require more skills to operate, starting to see a trend here? It’s almost like CCP intended there to be different “levels” or “types” of mining while keeping a singular mechanic. 🤯

> [@ImYourMom](#):
>
> Its got nothing to do with it being different or regular or your random analogy of cans

Just because you refuse to grasp the concept doesn’t invalidate it. Just from dealing with you in this thread, and your obstinate refusal to accept even the simplest of concept surrounding this game, it simply validates it more.

If you want the ability to compress moon goo, invest the time and resources into an Orca like everyone else does. That’s the only answer you’ll ever receive.
