Nice try but I don’t think so,
The only activities where the “general intent” is group play are forming an alliance & logistics - but lets face it - the “general intent” of those being a group activity goes out the window with actual groups not being required and CCP allowing multiple accounts.

Edit: Have you seen the latest youtube advert - there’s a lot of stuff about “your” journey through EvE not many mentions of “Our” journey

In that case, feel free to siege my citadel by yourself. You can report back to this thread to let everyone know how that went for you. And then you can run some C6 wormhole sites, by yourself, to replace the ship(s) you lost.

Multiple accounts is multiple people, even if the same person is controlling them all. Doesn’t matter where the commands are coming from; what matters is the added utility of having additional ships on the field. Of course, controlling more than one account at a time leads to per-account efficiency loss, which becomes quite heavy after the first two accounts.

So? “Your” can just as well be plural if multiple people are watching the trailer together.

> New players do buy Plex, they PvE to get ISK to increase in game ownership (ships, fits etc). PvE for advancement is the 1st stage of new player retention for MMOs

They really don’t. It’s hard to convince new players to pay $15/month for a subscription, there’s no way they’re handing over even larger amounts of money to buy in-game currency for a game they just started.

And, again, PvE players who buy PLEX to get ISK should be expected to have the _lowest_ retention rates because they’re handing over their $50, jumping straight to the end of PvE progression, and quitting because they have nothing left to work towards. It’s short-term income for CCP but these players have minimal long-term value.

> If they do buy Plex to buy a station, tho they are more likely to Plex their account & ISk grind with others, they will be more likely to remain in EVE as they are stepping into group PvE, the second stage of player retention.

Very few highsec players are paying for their accounts with PLEX/ISK. The profit from highsec PvE is way too low and you end up in a boring as hell cycle of spending tons of hours grinding just to earn the privilege to continue grinding next month. PLEXing your account only makes sense if you’re a nullsec botter with enough ISK that the cost to cover your subscription is negligible.

> Once the have established ownership in the game and advanced to group PvE they will move onto PvP, retention is higher if this is a voluntary step not an enforced one.

But by that point you’ve already lost most of them. And I am skeptical of the claim that the sort of person who wants to have their zero-risk space house and won’t engage with PvP will suddenly flip a switch and become a dedicated PvP player once they have their space house.

> In your eyes, they should just take it down now, and frankly many have which is hurting not only industry but mission runners and explorers also. Its the circle of life i guess.

Hardly. Solo players can work just fine with NPC stations, they don’t need their own space house.

Thank you for your opinion please review: Eve FanFest, CCP Ghost talk about the new player experience, the psychology behind new player retention, the relationship between in game earned rewards, ownership and advancement. (Same fanfest see income streams for players)

The introduction of abyssal filaments is a prime example of using the psychology behind the pve/group pve/Pvp advancement for player retention within the design of the game.

1. Solo PvE with increased difficulty secure from PVP
2. Group PVE
3. Solo Pvp with opt-in room for PVP
4. Consensual PvP cruiser
5. Group PVP with minifleets jumping into null

They can talk all they want, but their talk is completely at odds with the opinions expressed by the players themselves. I suspect that this is a case of trying to sell their “milk the whale cash cow” plan as somehow being good for the game as a whole.

And of course none of this addresses the point about highsec PvE-only players being a very poor PLEX market.

The presence of instanced content has _largely_ been received negatively by the vocal part of the player base. Most of us don’t think this sort of content belongs in EVE, even if the content itself functions fine.

> High-sec industry doesn’t need help right now. It needs the _opposite_ of help. It’s so saturated with participants, that there’s virtually no margin to be had producing anything but the most advanced goods, like high-end T2 ships

I would argue that this is also caused by the fact that upwell bonuses are so nerfed compared to null sec ones, so imported goods can undercut any highsec producers easily.
I’m not strictly opposed to this burning, but do feel that it does effectively hit highsec structures more, and therefore they should gain some bonus in return to balance. Risk has gone up, reward has not.

> [@Destiny\_Corrupted](#):

> However, that incentive will only truly work for small groups,

What you miss is the incentive of a fight and loot from the defending ships and KMs. If you are large enough to see off a small group, you are large enough to be worth hunting for the other aspects they want. This already happens currently so we know it will keep happening.
Which means you are in a catch 22 screwed regardless situation as the defender.

Now, increase the rewards for a highsec structure, it’s less an issue.

Yes, but this is a different issue, and needs a different debate. Null-sec has been the land of milk and honey for far too long, and needs to be set on fire. And, well, I think CCP _tried_ to do that at some point, and then a bunch of their guys were found floating in a river? I’m hazy on that, because I was having a _blackout_ of my own at that time.

People need to learn how to fight without making it enjoyable for the enemy. It is _very much possible_ to do this.

I disagree. When a player buys a structure, it’s because they’ve found a game they like, and the structure is a commitment to the game. The sense of achievement in putting up a structure is what keeps newer players in the game. With older players the sunken cost fallacy is what makes them stick with the game. " I’ve spent too much in game to throw it all away". This mechanism is removing the opportunity for players to experience putting up a structure. And removing the reason some older players stay with the game.

Sure, but what sense of achievement is there in paying $20 to buy a space house? It just proves that you have enough IRL cash to buy frivolous things.

> This mechanism is removing the opportunity for players to experience putting up a structure.

No it isn’t. It’s removing the ability to never have your structure be attacked, you’re still free to put one up. And successfully defending it makes it more of an achievement to be proud of, instead of a participation trophy anyone can buy.

it is there intention, they want to tear down all industry and industrial corporations because all they want to see and incite fighting, wars, kills, etc… Someone there hates miners, hates researchers, hates manufacturers… But loves pvp loves making others lives miserable.

This in not the eve I remember, the eve that has it all… the focus lies on killing eachother… sowing hate, making fights ruining the gameplay of others who love to mine and all that.

CCP I dislike this change, I dislike where eve is heading… It’s the best game ever but right now… its going downwards. Seems you are following down the spiral with other games…

Gunslinger, fight madness… dont get me wrong I like doing pvp but it needs a damn good reason…

Someone wants the entire industry out of the game, coz killing industrials will not help… who makes the stuff you fly, you use… the industrials… and the miners.

First no more moonmining with good ore in 0.5, and now this? Now this… seriously we got an pvp lover designing things…

Big dislike.

EVE has been like that from day one. CCP is a company founded by old-school MMO player killers, with the explicit intent of making a no-rules PvP sandbox game.

> Someone there hates miners, hates researchers, hates manufacturers…

You do understand that smart and ambitious industry players get a major buff when industry becomes more difficult, right? Supply vs. demand?
