Everything that I do know about him. Suggests that he was not a misogynist. He went to bat and spoke highly of more than one woman scientist to get her recognized in both academia and science circles. Such as Marietta Blau When she needed a job he wrote about her excellence as an accomplished experimental physicist. Or Emmy Noether he mentions to a fellow physicist that GöttingenUniversity could have picked up a thing or two from her. While his private life does more than suggest that he was not helpful around the house doing chores and such. At that time men did not help with household chores. The casual misogyny of expecting the wife to do the household chore exclusively was not that unusual for that time. I would suggest to take the quote is more for advice for everyone. Rather than focusing on what is today a poor word choice. ---

SMH It is just a quote. Lets not make this into something that it isn’t. He was not validating anyone for that matter. Just sharing a thought about success is not as good as cultivating value within oneself. Beyond that it does not command or even say anything about validating anyone. Leaves it to the reader to agree or disagree. ---
