In the beginning they were indeed blueprints, but basically they were all manufactured

ah maybe you should have said it in the OP because it was not clear  
and as usual if you implement somethg, some people will exploit it and it will have consequences somewhere else in eve. I can already find cons for your idea, so… no

Hmm… that is an interesting prosect. Maybe you can trade your Imp to someone with the blueprint…  
I still really do want that ship though hehe
