# Returning player Question: NPC station research slots

Haven’t done much since 2016. Just firing back up the old industry machine and am I just lucky with research slots always being open, or did EVE get rid of having a max amount of slots that were available?

Slots are no longer capped per station. The dynamic system cost index (which acts as a tax) being the tradeoff. If you pick a popular place you pay higher tax for your jobs.
