Completely new after just finishing the intro type missions. Im about to go fit a heron after seeing the starter exploration fit and give it a go but has anyone got any recommendations to other fits i should try out? Whether its pve, pvp or something else.

Ive only got a few mil for now so i cant go wild but i thought it might be a way to figure out whats decent to use

Pretty much the standard alpha exploration fit . Consult some guides on YT about exploration before you venture into lowsec, wormhole and nullsec exploration . There is where you want to be if best ISK is your goal. But before that you can practice a bit in highsec to get used to it a bit.
Don’t mind if you lose the ship , you will lose some until you get better and you can replace a bunch of them easily if you explore outside highsec.

Some tools you will be using very often:

On the anoik page , in the search bar you enter the name of the wormhole system where you are (they all start with j followed by a number) you will get a lot of useful information , such as other connecting wormholes, who lives there , kills, its static wormhole, etc.

On this YT channel there are some very good guides on how to use directional scanner(d-scan) and how to survive in nullsec (avoiding bubbles and so), avoiding gate camps, the rule of 6 of exploration. Most of them are strictly PvP , you can skip those if exploration is your only interest.

Good luck !
