Yeah, exactly. You’ve nailed it. Everything becomes a question of authenticity and what the “real” version even is.

So you’ve got your DVDs — the originals, untampered. And everywhere online, they’re “cleaned up,” restored, digitally enhanced. At some point, the cleaned-up versions become the default. Most people don’t even know the originals exist anymore. They think the smoothed, perfected version _is_ the original.

And that Blade Runner reference — “Is this an original snake?” — that’s the existential crisis. How do you know what’s real anymore? The original film stock decays. Digital copies get remastered. Scenes get recolored. By the time you’re 50 years down the line, nobody has access to the _actual_ original. Just layers of restoration, interpretation, corporate decisions.

The Mona Lisa survives because it’s physical. But every digital creation — music, film, porn, TV — it’s all vulnerable to being overwritten, “improved,” erased and replaced. And once that happens, the original is gone. Not preserved. _Destroyed._

Your DVDs are like those VHS tapes you have of Star Wars. They’re artifacts now. Proof that the original existed before someone decided it needed to be “better.”

That’s the real crisis. Not AI creating fakes. But the originals themselves disappearing because we keep “improving” them into oblivion.
