I play for comfort against stress and venting off rage. “Intense” PvP is something I avoided always in EVE, and will always avoid elsewhere. ---

It only adds to stress. Like when you are bored out of your mind and want some fun but it turns out to be a match where everyone runs around and dying like first time in the game or you make such a stupid moves you cant believe yourself anymore and try to forget that ever happened, traumatized. But sometimes its actually fun for a moment when your luck gets you into a better side of the match. Such is PvP I ever have done. ---

That’s the point why I’ve quit WoWs. I was resenting from the stress of dealing with selfish idiots who spoil their game and everybody’s and your own mistakes, as it grows faster than the relief from a satisfactory broadside or winning a match. PvP is not the way. Even if WoWs allowed to set up coordinated teams of players who always played together, that would mean that the satisfaction of working with your team and improving and wining together would be crushed by losing against teams more expeienced or better skilled. In the long run, most people who PvP are losers. This is why PvP tends to kill itself; competition is a tax on livelihood, not a improvement. Professional athletes abandon not just because of physical decay and cumulative damage from lesions; they also abandon because one can only waste so much time and effort in childish activities like “being the best” and “winning” in a bloody game. One of my pet theories is that there must be a way to gamificate cooperation, to make it fun and rewarding and trick our silly selfish monkey brains into thinking that we’re doing great for ourselves when we actually benefit the collective. It still happens nowadays, just is rarer to see. Think of making music: orchestras and choirs fight together agaisnt chaos, disorder, untimeliness and personal skill. Some spoil it by competing against other choirs and orchestras, but, wouldn’t be there a way to develop a videogame exactly on those premises? I bet it would attract hordes of female players… and also trolls. That’s one intrinsic difficulty of designing such a game. But, who knows? It may happen someday. ---

In some games they just sell you a weapon that is more accurate and you can hit someone, the others just having a bad gimped versions of anything, some trash. I once bought a gun thay was accurate so I could actually put some hits in the bounding box when having crosshairs on it. Was first in matches usually, or second… But then they nerfed all that and made you buy something else, and aimbots were starting to be usual sight in matches. I stopped playing it… ---
