Horror images. > [@Ian\_Morbius](#): > > This is so… old. Science fiction is fairly old. Like this story about moon princess. 🤔 > **[The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tale_of_the_Bamboo_Cutter)** > > The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (Japanese: 竹取物語, Hepburn: Taketori Monogatari) is a monogatari (fictional prose narrative) containing elements of Japanese folklore. Written by an unknown author in the late 9th or early 10th century during the Heian period, it is considered the oldest surviving work in the monogatari form. > The story details the life of Kaguya-hime, a princess from the Moon who is discovered as a baby inside the stalk of a glowing bamboo plant. After she grows, her beauty attracts... Moon princess being extraterrestial and there is even a spaceship. One would say its fantasy, but how would people that dont know about science write science fiction? 🤔 I think this is the way they would do that. Timezone everyone 😘 ---

Science fiction was born as an offspring of travel fiction, actually. Even now SF revolves heavily about the concept of moving the reader to a foreign place where society is different by means of science and then explore it. ---
