Time to go to sleep… nighties lovelies! Also: it’s not easy to moderate… > **[Hey Elon: Let Me Help You Speed Run The Content Moderation Learning Curve](https://www.techdirt.com/2022/11/02/hey-elon-let-me-help-you-speed-run-the-content-moderation-learning-curve/)** > > It’s kind of a rite of passage for any new social media network. They show up, insist that they’re the “platform for free speech” without quite understanding what that actua… Back in stone age, I was an active member of a online forum with no moderation. That lasted a few months until the owner received a polite but stern letter from a lawyer telling him that some of the content he allowed on the forum was in violation of laws in California (where he lived and the server was located) and unless he avoided the presence of such content on his site the lawyer’s client would require him (the lawyer) to start legal action. And that was how that little experiment of unmoderated free speech ended. 💻 ---
