EVE used to be a patience game as well. Especially when accumulating skillpoints. I know skillpoints aren’t important when it comes to PVP, but it was fun planning skills on pen and paper(literally and this was before EVEMon). Having mind stimulating discussions with other people about skills was very enjoyable. ---

Time to go to sleep… quite late because te last battle in War thunder was an epic fight. We won, eventually, from having about 1,000 tickets left on our side vs the enemy still having 14,000 and we’ve ended the battle 308 tickets to 0 after me riding a bloody unarmored SPAA across the whole map, capturing all 3 bases, killing 2 enemy SPAA, assisting to kill 2 enemy tanks and 1 SPG, and holding cap A alone with my vehicle on the verge of destruction. And yet nobody died (so we kept our last tickets), the enemy took one base but we still had 2 and they kept losing tickets and, did I mention that _nobody died?_ A 1 in 1,000… no, more 1 in 5,000 battle… and we won… because for once nobody died. I got it before expiration. On an unrelated note: I watched Episode IX of Star Wars tonight and I couldn’t understand why they kept using Carrie Fisher even though she died like 2 movies ago. People also just go to the mine owned by chinese and they dig some pieces, then go sell them. That is not allowed but they want to get money. Even mothers with children do that. They are being chased out but then come back. Africa is a wild country. ---

…and meanwhile we’re running out of fuel oils with what this means to _everything_. Oil companies started devesting in fuel oil refining capacity since they foresaw they would be running out of profitable oil depots, specially the kind of oil which yield a better percent of fuel oils. Fossil oil is a mix of all sorts of crap, from heavy stuff like tar and asphalt to the lightest components like naphta, and it can’t be refined selectively: once oil is cracked and processed, you get a variable % of everything, you want it or don’t. Thus oil companies can’t process too much oil which yields too much unsellable crap for the usable one, and “light” oils are exctinct by now. Heavier oils like shale oil just have so much sulphur, tar and asphalt that processing them is a PITA and they have too few of the sweet-spot fuel oils. Thus as refineries aged and was coming the time to update them, oil corporations found out they would not be getting enough bang for their buck and just stopped building and upgrading refineries, same as they’ve been silently stopping to look for new oil depots since they’re a ruinous business (and fracking oil is such a waste of money that it only happens when the Government subsidizes the hell out of it…). So all in all, world output of fuel oils has been shrinking since 2015 and right now in 2021-2022 the EU has produced only 75% of its fuel oil consumption. This has been patched by buying fuel oils from strategic reserves of some EU countries and US strategic reserves… but since the US are also running out of fuel oils, this won’t last long. And not enough refining of fuel oils means: Not enough kerosene for airplanes (specially since it’s been traded off for diesel fuel by trimming oil cracking, the Covid pandemic helped out but now aviation is back to pre-pandemic levels…) Not enough heavy fuels for ships and power plants Not enough diesel fuel for locomotives and lorries and buses and trucks and vans and cars, or military tanks (and we might start noticing it this very 2023 with rising fuel prices). Not enough diesel fuel for farming machinery (and we’re gonna notice with rising prices, Ukraine war notwithstanding). And not enough heating oil neither. Oh, and 2022 just kicked the ball off the park in terms of global warming -but that might be because of the Tonga volcano explosion (good?) which means we’re gonna have excess water vapor in the stratosphere and excess heat retention for a few years (right what we needed now…).
