Well, they eventually found it 28 hours later… as a debris field. Guess there wasn’t much left to salvage, not even with a Salvager II, but everyone was afraid of some supir sikrit tech falling in the wrong hands. And now I’m off to sleep… nighties lovelies! ---

Hmmm… looks like atmospheric methane is doing funny things and scientists are puzzled as to why and a bit wary about what this could mean. The good news is that methnae lasts about 12 years in the atmosphere, which makes removing it a feasible feat (kind of), unlike trimming down CO2. The bad news is that this could be a glacial termination event in which temperatures rise by 4 degrees and all sorts of weird stuff happen for thousands of years (tropical wetlands in Siberia kind of stuff), and certainly it would put an end to the good 6,000 years of climate stability in which the last hominid species became a superhit, much to everyone’s surprise. Or, we might begin considering seriously dumping SO2 (sulphur dioxide) into the stratosphere and further spread climate chaos (but cool the planet). At least, dumping SO2 in the stratosphere is reversible since it goes away naturally in 10 years. But, oh the liabilities! “You dumped SO2 into the stratosphere, now my country’s crops died in a flood/drought!” ---

Well, tech bros from Silicon Valley are looking for ways to save their asses from “the Event”. Transhumanism, going to Mars, bunkers in New Zealand or Alaska, they see a collapse coming, see how they are a part in causing it (because all their wealth stems from damaging the planet) and rather than look for ways to be billionaires without ruining the world, they just want to get away from the fallout. Nobody wants to stop being a billionaire. And all in all, they’re like, gods? Masters of the Unvierse? Cream of the cream, top of the crop? Can’t we just agree that their wild success of socially inept freaks who lucked out is reason enough to not bother them with our petty will to live and see our children grow?
