Except for Guiness. Guiness is food.. It is good for the body.. And maybe Samuel Adams beer. The christmas case has some great tasting beers. šŸ˜‰ AppleJack brandy with apple cider is great for a chilly autumn day. ---

Just a shout out in case you care for, legendary Marvel scriptwriter Peter David of Professor Hulk and Spider-Man 2099 fame died recently after [being rejected from Medicaid](https://bleedingcool.com/comics/peter-david-runs-out-of-insurance-loses-medicaid-and-needs-your-help/) in last November and running into serious debt to pay for his care after having a stroke. The familiy is still in a financial pit, 30,000 $ below their [gofundme](https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-peter-david) goal, so if anyone does care, here comes your chance to thank Peter David for his art. ---

One of the earliest examples of bar jokes is Sumerian (c. 4500ā€“1900 BC), and it features a dog: ā€œA dog walked into a tavern and said, ā€˜I canā€™t see a thing. Iā€™ll open this oneā€™.ā€ The humor of it is probably related to the Sumer way of life and has been lost, but the words remain. ---

Her feet will be wet and cold if it rains or -god forbid- snows; she will be stepping on little stones and sand and other debris getting inside the shoe; her socks -when she wears any- and her feet will always be dirty, specially near the fingertips; and this will go on for days and weeks and months until her parents can scrap together enough money to either mend the shoe, or buy a new pair if the hole wears out beyond repair. Considering how many people fell from being wealthy to being impoverished. That car might be the last thing the family managed to hold on. Being migrant workers. That car became their way to get to the next field faster. Thus making more money. The stark difference between the wealth that is tied up in the car and being so poor as to not be able to buy shoes for their children. Shows how much the depression made people to do things that previously been unthinkable.
