Yes, but someone must imagine and think and decide what should be created, how should it look like, that’s a job AI can’t do. They only make stochastic speculation through sheer calculation power and some clever maths. “Copy this” is a vastly different beast than “create this”. When I’m tinkering with AI slop, I am deciding what should they copy, how, and why. I could make a generic instructions, and yet I write detailed prompts that put into words what I see with my imagination… as far as the very limited technology allows. It’s like writing. Anyone can put words together. But turning those words into a story, a piece of knowledge or an emotion, that’s the creator’s work. It can be imitated and trivialised, but creators will always be ahead of imitators. (And that goes too for the endless string of “China does! (something somebody else did first with no propaganda and yet China stole it)” bullsheete, but that would be a different story) ---

My father’s fmily had many military int he Navy, whcih stood by the legitimate government, so they ended in the losing side fo the civil war. But they still had acquittances and even some friendship ties to the fascist victors, and so they managed to ask a favor so a Navy officer searched for my granduncle’s military record. The family hoped that, with him assigned to a Navy unit he never joined, and then deserting, it would be enough to prove that my grand-uncle didn’t see no combat and thus didn’t shed blood. And so he was added to the 1953 amnesty and could return to Spain after spending 15 years abroad, most of them in the USA and including WW2. (How he ended up not joining his unit by accident and why he deserted afterwards would be a different story…) ---
