There are already threads to that lame ass effect.

Hur-de-dur blizzard makes money doing it, so everyone else can too!
No.
Literally millions of players begged for it for over a decade. Hundreds of private servers popped up, and blizzard refused for years.
Turns out classic sucks as bad as it did 19 years ago. Only the lame ducks play it, because they know what to expect on everything they do.
Sheep pretending to be wolves.

Classic isn’t even like classic and that’s not a lie. For starters the game didn’t have phasing back then and apparently they changed some things with the classes. It’s basically that sleezy salesmen but in video games.

Eve is still going to need all the ore produced today. Are you just a bit conflicted because you are ore broker? High priced scarce ore is just what a broker wants.

No because volume is often just as good or even better than margin.

Nerfing the Orca’s yield wouldn’t effect the amount of ore mined in the game that much either because all those solo/afk orcas would switch to something else like a barge.

Believe it or not, i don’t ask for this out of self interest. Simply having mining ships left in the shadow of a mining support ship indicates that something isn’t right. And i will ask for changes until both types of ships are relevant in their roles.

And no amount of vitriol or childish bully tactics will dissuade me.

I’d say so.

I go for a stroll and i see more Orcas than all other barges and exhumers **combined**. I screen shotted several days of the same system and hunted down every Orca I saw on d-scan to see how they were being used. The vast majority were not supporting a fleet of mining ships but were just being used _instead_ of mining ships.

Even if they weren’t afk, which plenty appeared to be, that’s a problem.

Maybe CCP will release the data on how much ore each ship has mined again. I’m pretty confident the Orca will be above the barges/exhumers despite their lower yield.

Surely that’s all the more reason to nerf the Orca’s which are keeping the prices low with low effort supply.

dude, if you own an orca you know, it is about 1000m3. Miners don’t use Orca’s to mine, unless they are not really skilled as miners…

It doesn’t. But then again that’s a multiboxing issue.

> I’m not sure why you’re so adamant that Orcas are taking all the miners jobs when there’s no evidence that’s actually the case. Mining has been rubbish in highsec since long before the resource changes and long before orca were used by some AFK players to mine.

We’re arguing past eachother.

Putting aside ‘Orca’s stealing our jobs’ for a second,

Mining in hi-sec is low pay yes. But since trit can only be mined in hi-sec now, the only reason it’s **still** low pay can only be because we are mining more in hi-sec than we need. The reasons mining in hi-sec is ‘rubbish’ is because of the hi-sec miners _themselves_.

And if the barges have gone to lowsec like you suggest they might have, that **still** points to the Orca as being part of the problem.

That is all. Just a comment on that last paragraph you made.

Ice mining can be done AFK in an Orca in hisec, seriously…, though I do agree with you in terms of roids.

I am in favour of buffing the yield of the drones but I would make it so you have to reassign after each cycle. At this point in time a significant number of ice belts are controlled by players who run massed AFK Orca’s and have the ability to bump and gank those that try to mine in those ice belts. I want to make this AFK mining ability with ice a thing of the past.

In fact apart from this one issue with ice mining, Orca’s are not an issue.

OK the gankers complain about being unable to gank it, but they can gank it if they put their mind to it, it is just that it is really not worth their while.

Yes, the most notable is a CODE player. Sirseshin, Kamio and Halaima were the systems he was mainly operating in. I am not sure if he is active now, I have not checked since October 2020, but he was mining those systems 7/7 24/24.

What he did was have about 11 plus out and they had their MWD’s on.

He was going between three systems and controlling the re-spawns which were four hours. It was very efficient, and he made a huge amount of ISK.

They don’t need to mess with the drones, just make the ore output go to the regular hold instead of the ore hold.

That restores the original dynamic which defeated AFK mining: You have to be there to move the ore or the hold fills.

I predominantly see large multibox fleets with an orca, a hauler and a number of barges, with some systems like Niballe (I think Wuos used to be another) being controlled by a single multibox user that will log in multibox gankers to destroy any other miners trying to mine the same ice.
>
> AFK orcas are easy to disupt, you just bump them away from the ice. If you keep them in drone range they often won’t notice and their drones spend ages flying back and forth.

This is the point. Let’s not promote changing a great ship, and great experience, just to fix a problem with a few bad actors. This notion that Orca mining is great yield or income is just false, but there are a few bad actors, and other ways (already suggested) to resolve this.

Which all miners can do. As I recall on a hulk with a high yield fit it takes like 5 minutes and then you have to move ore.

I see and hear that a lot, but for a new pilot that skill to be a mining foreman, the drones help to make isk. Personally I never received much from boosting fleets. I wish however that they would offer a mechanic to allow foreman to collect payments for boosting. I would also add that prior to 2016, the orca did not have 100% to mining yield, and the basically the profession was considered dead.

You shut your whore mouth. The catalyst is ■■■■ compared to every other destroyer except at this one role, lots of damage very rapidly at 0. Its lack of a third mid and heavy need for range control make it pretty much only good for hs ganking or deleting cynos off enemy keepstars. Don’t you dare even think about taking its only job. Unless you’re giving it more fitting room and a third mid.

That’s like saying “New player who skills to be a FAX pilot”.

A new player skilling for mining foreman is an unatrual act.

Before they screwed it all up, mining foreman was something more on the hauler path.

First you would have the newbie miner(s) and some newbie hauler in barges and such.

Then would come the exhumers and the command ships.

The Orca used to be a mining hauler as well as a command ship, but in their zest to nerf off grid comabt boosting, they nerfed off grid mining boosts and made it really hard to do both.
