Just curious, why is every one of your posts so incredibly negative? It’s almost as if your entire identity is about being negative.

Might explain the character name.

I have found that in RL it is awful lot to ask of people. Sadly and pathetically more than I care to know. My grandson and granddaughter knows someone that is disabled. have known him for a good 10 or 12 years. Bad car accident on a worksite and all that. He should be on legitimately on SSI. But he does things that is self destructive to his own case. To the point he is on Workmans comp. for now. He acts surprised when the consequences of decisions comes home to roost. It’s mind blowing at times to think that people walk around. Thinking that a bad decision is not going to follow with an all too often bad consequences.

If anything this game should instructive to people that when a making the wrong decision. Inadvertently or by conscience choice. That it is going to have all most with certainty going to have negative consequences.

And before anyone jumps on me. You have no idea of just how much a master of my own self destruction I am in RL. The only difference is that I own my bad decisions. Try not to repeat them. Or at least not do the same blasted thing again. LOL

> Now I know pvp is always an option when playing eve.

Umm the only option you have is undocking. That is your only option. PVP is what keeps me in business. Every module, ship, ammo, or weapon that I sell. Is predicated on the fact that a player has either used that ammo or lost the ship and everything on that fit. PVP you only real option is whether you can fight it out right there or be fast enough to get away.

Again PVP in this game is PVP in capital letters. Highsec is only safe if you take in the precautions needed to be able to either get away quickly or stand up and fight. This is not going to change. Highsec is the only area where after you have become that pretty fireball in the sky. The space cops going to show up and make the other pilot into pretty fireworks in the sky. The space cops are not going to protect you or swoop in at the last moment.

I would suggest that you get out of this idea that anywhere in Eve is safe. There is only degrees of safety, but only if you take the precautions and understand the risks of flying anywhere.

Pretend that it’s all real. Are you saying that HS and Concord can’t evolve?

Also, is this image Photoshopped?

I am saying that Concord is doing its job. Highsec is just fine as it is. In fact I see no reason for any of it to change the way you and others would want.

Yes, you disagree and that is fine. At the same time I have yet to see any reason to change my opinion. Eve Online is literally Everyone Versus Everyone Online. This game is about PVP. The main economic driver is the destruction of ships, modules, and structures. What sets this game apart from others is that this game takes a mindset. That you are willing to take risks, to be a self starter, to own the consequences of your decisions. To be willing to lose ships and things.

What keeps getting proposed time and again is turn this game into another vanilla MMO. That people can sit safely in a section of space and not worry about getting shot at. That is not EVE Online. You are only relatively safe in High sec. Aura makes a point of saying that when you leave the tutorial station. And through the entire tutorial what gets said time and again. Is that there is no place that is completely safe.

I do not know what game people think that they were going to play. But the shock is always amusing and at once puzzling. EVE Online is PVP and unlike other games out there. CCP means it. The first time someone shoot at you. The first time you lose a ship. Should not come as a shock. Especially after you have past the 30 day mark.

I really wish they’d just test it for a year—no shooting anyone in +0.5 systems without a war dec, plus max war decs with exponential costs to keep spam in check.

They could wrap it in some epic lore drop, like a new Faction release or the “CONCORD Crackdown” expansion. One year, that’s all.

Then we’d finally kill off all the myths and see the real truth on player retention and profitability.

My bet? Announcement alone brings back 10k old-timers, and way more as they drag their friends in to actually play together.

But nah, it won’t happen. Too many folks profiting off the mess right now—like a corrupt government protecting its cronies. Small group, super loud, always yelling to keep things “just the way they are.”

If I may ask why rp is seen so frequently in space or when docked in your favourite station?

Is that not normal behaviour for controlling your pilots?

/ now a question for one of James’s strumpet pilots who like to share links to old laws of highsec

@Synthetic_Infomorph how often would it occur for gankers themselves go AFK while standing still in space?

Ie Law of Highsec written by Raptor 2015

2D. “Capsuleers are prohibited from Loitering AFK while in Space “

I was never fortunate enough to be one of James’ strumpets. I was just an on and off again bumper, then unsubbed for a couple years to play World of Warcraft Legion. If he’d asked it of me I would have been happy to comply, of course (just look at that jawline!), but alas that honour was never mine.

Gankers go AFK all the time. There’s a fifteen minute timer after you go criminal. That’s why they write blogs and invite miners into chat channels, gives them something to do while they wait CONCORD out.

Miners just want to relax then a ganker passes by or in Al’s case comes home to gank you. Gankers don’t like when miners are having fun or just plain relaxing out on their favourite asteroid belt.

I am retired. When my day of appointments and such are through. I find myself out in a belt. I play some quiet jazz in the background. It reminds of some old times I do not discuss. Mining is relaxing in this game for me. I can watch my overview, tap the dscan, and listen to the sounds of New Eden.. Even as I listen to some jazz in the background. Alway aware and always ready to warp out.

This is a game of where you had better have situational awareness or develop it quick. Because you are going to need it. Whether you are mining, doing exploration, or simply going through a gate.

If you think that for one moment anyone is going to have mercy on you. Outside of your fellow corp brother and sisters. You are playing the very wrong game. This game is hardwired for PVP. There is no way around it. You can not engage in it yourself. That is fine, but that does not mean no one else is going to refrain from it. Far, far from it.

@Pingu_Long I’m right there with you on this one. I’ve also been playing EVE on-and-off for over a decade, and coming back recently has felt… weird. It’s the same game, but the rough edges have gotten sharper while the things that should have improved seem frozen in time.

Your shuttle experience sums it up perfectly. Getting blown up in a 3.7m isk trashcan while you’re literally carrying nothing of value except the chance of implant drops feels absurd. And yeah—crime always works flawlessly in EVE. Punishment? Not so much. The idea that you’d have to throw 100m+ (and maybe Omega) to even attempt to punish a guy in a disposable gank setup is exactly the imbalance that pushes casual players right back out the airlock.

It’s wild that the entire ship class built for cheap, fast travel is basically unviable. Shuttles should be the safest thing in high-sec short of a pod, but instead they’re just free killmails for people multiboxing a dozen throwaway accounts. Same with the Leopard—one of the coolest, most stylish travel hulls in the game, and you can’t realistically use it because a Thrasher can nuke it out of spite. Hard to get excited about new ships or visual updates when the oldest pain points still go untouched.

Your point about travel time is spot on too. When a simple 15-minute move turns into an hour of spamming warp, staring at the screen like a zombie, and checking zKill and the map every jump just to stay alive… yeah, that’s not fun. People love to say “that’s EVE,” but there’s a difference between challenge and tedium. High-sec shouldn’t feel like crossing a minefield blindfolded just to run some missions.

And the exploration frigate model? Honestly, I laughed when I saw your screenshot because I had the exact same reaction recently. CCP has reworked so many ships beautifully over the years, and then you hop into certain old hulls and it’s like stepping into 2006. When you’re already frustrated, being greeted by a “joy killer” model is just insult to injury.

Everything you described hits a bigger point: the game keeps adding flashy new things, but some of the fundamentals that define the minute-to-minute experience still feel neglected. Travel safety, ship viability, consistency in visual quality, high-sec ecosystem balance… these aren’t minor details. They’re what make players want to log in—or log out for another couple of years.

You’re definitely not alone in feeling pushed toward another break. A lot of returning players are running into the same “I love the idea of EVE, but the reality is just draining” wall. And when a game actively punishes you for trying to chill, relax, or explore casually, that’s a game design problem—not a player problem.

I hope CCP eventually revisits some of these long-standing issues, because the core of EVE is still amazing. But right now? I completely get your frustration.

Sometimes I get this weird feeling that we are talking about two different games. One is the hypercapitalism where outside of griefing and doxing. Just about anything goes. you make a decision and that decision can lead to a good outcome or a bad one. But all decisions come with consequences.

A recent decision of a now very well known player by the name of gobbins. Because he wanted to play essentially a game of space landlord. And for 10 years got away with it. Until someone challenged him.. Or rather the Imperium, The Goonswarm, Instead of rising to meet the challenge. He retreated and kept retreating with the Goons following him.

When it all became to much. Instead of going out in a blaze of glory. Which everyone was expecting. He quit. Just quit along with his inner circle. Leaving the line members to be hellcamped while he and his buddies had already gotten out all their assets.

 ![ok-who-is-responsible-for-this-v0-ja5g072dh60g1](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/7/b/8/7b8256e456fe207ecbb6256023f0cd0c08f631dc.webp)

This is what losing hard looks like in Eve Online. This is what playing the wrong game and making bad decisions for ten years looks like.

Eve Online is an unforgiving and brutal game. It is once more hardwired for this. If you are looking for a more casual game. there plenty out there. I will not apologize or shrink from the fact that i love the way this game is set up. Tomorrow I could decide to go pirate or become a nomad. Start a corp that might in five or ten years lead a coalition that challenges the Goonswarm, Winterco, or any of the big ones. The kicker is that those people would welcome it.

Win or lose It would be fun. But through all of it I would alway recognize that success is never a guarantee, that even as a Pirate I may not be all that good. I might be able to emulate Katie Sia epic journey and maybe do her one better. The possibilities for what I could do are vast.

Sad that so many people would settle mediocrity. When You can strive for a goal that might, might I say, be successful. Right now I am only a little over a year and a half into the game. But as the song says the The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades.
