However this was never about any outsiders, only about the question of wether or not faking to be dying of anything in real life and making an in-game thing about it, is okay or not. I will say, no matter if people think this is funny or not, it crosses the same border, real life threats do. As for that, I think we should not go down this road. P.S. And yes, I do find it extremely stupid that people use the thing between their ears for this kind of crap ---

Probably better just to ignore and not respond to such posts. There is a concurrent thread by a guy that claims to be dying and offering isk to wreck his enemies. People die everyday, all over the world, at an estimated rate of 1.8 persons per second. Dont worry about them here in EVE. Leave it to healthcare professionals or their families/loved ones to deal with that. You dont owe the dying anything, unless you are complicit in their death. * * * Now, back to topic: OP topic asks why NOT play EVE. That is asking proof of a negative. Better to ask why TO play EVE. People generally choose to do something because they want to, not because they dont want to. ---

When I’m considering to do something, I generally look for reasons to do it. When I’m considering not to do something, I generally look for reasons not to do it. Call me crazy, but I think that makes sense and represents how most people consider their options. If you hand a new potential player a list of why not to play EVE, thats hardly conducive towards motivating his choice to play EVE, cos you left out all the good bits. ---

He didn’t asked advice, he asked for “cons” of EVE compared to other games. As in a friend asks you, “you own this car, are there any reasons why I should not buy it?”. You will not say “you should not buy a car because cars devaluate horribly as an investment”, rather you may warn him about poor mileage for his intended use or that it doesn’t haves some feature he demands. You’re not trash talking your car, just sharing reasons why your friend might want to consider other cars. ---

Dunno about you, but generally I like to know what the upsides are, before asking the downsides. If Im interested in a product, I want foremost to know if it matches what benefit I want from it. Ofc, after, I will ask why/how it does not fill my desire. Nobody rational peruses the market on what they DONT want. They look for what they do want, and afterwards, consider whether it has additio al negatives that dont fit their needs. If you want a car, you search according to the characteristics you do want. If you want a red car, thats what you will search for, not all cars that arent red. ---

I didn’t talk to anyone before playing Eve Online. I was lured by the promises of ‘real life science fiction’ and cool screenshots. Honestly this game didn’t disappoint at all. It’s awesome. I think really it’s more about having a computer good enough to enjoy it and if you’ve got the precious free-time. The worst thing you can do as a new player is read too deep into places like these forums. ---

I get what you mean, but there are people still playing EVE on computers over 10yrs old, and old even then when they started. EVE PC system requirements are famously low, and a great credit to CCP for maintaining them as such. ---

Reality is more complex than your attempts to shoehorn it in your established cathegories. You don’t know what people are you judging based on a piece of information which obviously conflicts you. Sorry if you don’t understand why should two persons share negative information on a topic, but it happens. If you want to know the good and the bad, you don’t necessarily ask the same person. You may ask a fanboy about the good and a bittervet about the bad, or anyone inbetween those extremes. Or might ask several people or look for information yourself and ask for what you didn’t find. ---

Ok, man. Keep explaining to potential new players how crap EVE is. Your choice. Apparently telling them how good it is, is no longer a priority. Im 36.
