I didn’t compare it to reality. I compared it to stations in game that have windows. Yes. This game. Eve online has windows.

> What does this have anything to do with sov null?

Okay, seems you are not aware of your logical error either.

You were the first one who brought up nullsec. That you can easily kill these station undock scouts in null.

Well, in both sov null and wh there are no stations. Only citadels that belongs to those who “owns” the system. As such no neutral scout can be scouting that citadel undock from inside the station can he? And if he cannot do that, then it means that this proposed feature does not affect sov null and wh at all. As such argumenting that you can kill scouts scouting your citadel undock and that you wouldn’t be able to if that feature was implemented is nonsense.

Your argument applies in NPC null, but then, if it is a regular station, nobody even needs a cloak to scout the undock (if that is a thing in npc null, I have my doubts). They can just keep undocking capsule over and over to the point where the opposite side just gives up killing it. That can be done with simple macro completely AFK and while it is perhaps against rules, peoples are using macros all the time and getting away with it. Or they are sharing their accouts via remote desktop so multiple peoples can control such alts. Uedama Scout is a perfect example of that. Or you can just use that cloak in NPC null, if someone actually uses observatory to uncloak you and you afk and you die, you will just re-undock that t1 frigate with t1 cloak again it costs nothing compared to Mobile Observatory.

I really don’t see anything this feature allows that wouldn’t be already possible. In highsec and lowsec you can cloak 5000km away from station in random direction that is not on line with any celestial - this is what I do and it is perfectly safe. This allows to afk scout for whole day and stream it to your corp members if so desired. Or if it is highsec you just undock random ship and leave it afk there. Chances that someone ganks it are very low and can be mitigated to zero by using hull tanked Gnosis/Praxis. It is not possible to bump it away from the grid and if someone ganks it then you just re-undock it again, it costs nothing and it can be done with alpha account.

If we are talking about instant intel, when you want to know who is out there **now** then the ablity to see outside station does not add anything new. Undocking with capsule is perfectly safe as even in kicker stations if you stop after undock, you won’t get out of dock range - assuming it is some problem to warp away (capsule cannot be caught on undock) and return back to dock. That applies in all spaces including NPC null.

All the feature does is convenience of something that is already possible to do.

So why is the topic of this thread a complaint that this isn’t possible?

Convenience.

Is same as argumenting that we don’t need to stack guns, because it adds nothing that we couldn’t do already as we can manually press F1 to F8.

In the medieval Shatranj, the rook symbolized a Chariot. The Persian word _rukh_ means “chariot”, as does the name of the corresponding piece in the original Indian version, Chaturanga, _ratha_. In modern times, it is mostly known as हाथी (elephant) to Hindi-speaking players, while East Asian chess games such as xiangqi and shogi have names also meaning chariot (車) for the same piece.

Persian war chariots were heavily armored, carrying a driver and at least one ranged-weapon bearer, such as an archer. The sides of the chariot were built to resemble fortified stone work, giving the impression of small, mobile buildings, causing terror on the battlefield

So yeah, it’s actually a Chariot.

(an antique Chariot depicting a war elephant instead of a tower)

You completely miss the point it is also called a “castle”:

> _[Oxford English Dictionary](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_English_Dictionary)_, 2nd ed. (online version, accessed Jan. 27, 2009), entry for [“Castle”](https://www.oed.com/view/Entry/28581), def. 9. “_Chess_. One of the pieces, made to represent a castle; also called a ROOK.”. _[New Oxford American Dictionary](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Oxford_American_Dictionary)_, 2nd ed. (2005) says that “castle” is informal and an “old-fashioned term for rook”. _[The Oxford Companion to Chess](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oxford_Companion_to_Chess)_, by [David Hooper](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hooper_(chess_player)) & [Kenneth Whyld](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Whyld), 2nd ed. (1992), p. 344 says “In English-speaking countries non-players sometimes call it a castle…”. _Let’s Play Chess_ by [Bruce Pandolfini](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Pandolfini) (1986) p. 30, says “The rook is the piece mistakenly called the castle.”; _The Everything Chess Basics Book_ by Peter Kurzdorfer and the [United States Chess Federation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Chess_Federation), Adams Media 2003, page 30, says “… often incorrectly referred to as a _castle_ by the uninitiated”.

You know one thing can have multiple names (especially by different cultures and/or different time periods and so on). 🤔

Just for the sake of thowing in my worthless opinion:

I like a clear game design. One that is helpful for the player playing said game, as little exceptions from general rules as possible and only for really valid reasons.

If Upwell Structures allows viewing the outside, NPC stations should too. All “dockable” structures should do that. Simple as that. I see no reason for an exception. Dscan can be disabled, do you see only the grid of the station, deal done.

So, what is the possible _worst case scenario_? That someone is placing an alt into an NPC station that is monitoring (or streaming) the grid in front of that station? So what? The same alt could do that in a T1 frig with a Prototype Cloak. Costing what? 2M total? I don’t believe for a second anyone would use a 70M Mobile Observatory to remove that thing.

Sad Jita 4-4 ganker noises. 🤔

:ccpguard:

(Because if you can pre-load the Jita 4-4 undock there is much less chance for black screen, client lockup during loading and so forth. Though technically you can do that in a corvette then undock in your ship after that but still.)

Good riddance. Farming cheap kills because other players have poorer machines or connections isn’t something I see as “value” in a game anyway.

So… you’re against viewing outside because having that feature would bypass the risk of your game crashing when undocking? I never knew game crashing was one of the gameplay risks of Eve Online. Were there ever patch notes on this? When was crashing considered to be a standard feature?

Sure, but gankers are typically ganking those arriving to station, not exiting because at Jita there are 6 undock corridors.

I am one of those Jita gankers and I gank even ppls exiting. I have no problem with this change even if it means that maybe I get less targets.I agree with @Syzygium point on this matter.

Didn’t state otherwise but as you note they also gank undockers so there will still be less loot for them (and my thief alt and others performing the same profession) as a result.

I was only active in that role many years ago but made a good portion of my wealth grabbing loot in Jita.

Are you perhaps that Jililil guy that camps Jita 4-4 most of the time (at least did so with many alts back in the days I was active)? 🤔
