I have spoken to thousands and thousands of Canadians as well as being born in that country and have never once - in my nearly sixty years of life - heard one insist on being called American. Nor any of the Mexicans I met in the years I lived there. I have no reason to believe Brazilians would be any different. You may have heard someone call themselves Mexican American but it doesn’t even remotely mean what you apparently think it does. I have heard people living in South America grumble that Americans shouldn’t be called Americans… but nobody in Latin America calls Americans that anyway - they use various forms of “Gringo.” ---

My daughter, who embraces her Greek roots, just pronounced your name as Heek (as near as I can write it). I’ve always pronounced it as Suks. How do you intend it to be said? Mr Epeen 🕶 ---

When I must be on voice comms, I have always said it was “Zooks” - although I chose the name partly because of its unknowable pronunciation. Sucks is pretty awesome, I gotta say. ---
