Warp scrams can stop you from docking into player owned structures, can stop you from jumping with an MJD, it can turn off your MWD, but why can’t it stop ships from jumping to the cyno.

Right now the meta is blob via cyno. Scramming a cyno ship is the EASY way to enable counter play for the blobbing mechanic.

Its simple, it makes tacklers THAT much more important, and it’s SO FREAKING EASY TO IMPLEMENT.

</div>

Would it make sense though?

Warp scramblers scramble the warp drive of the player, so they cannot nagivate their ship and use their microwarp drive or their microjump drive.

Cynosural fields are a completely different mechanic than navigation. In fact the ship, the structure or the anchorable source of the cynosural field **is not navigating at all**. They’re stationary and even in case the source is a ship it’s stuck in space after activation.

I don’t know how an anti-navigation module should logically counter a cynosural field.

If you wish to stop people from jumping to a cyno with your warp scrambler you’ve got to be at the other side to scramble the ship that is about to use their jump drive.

If anything CCP could introduce a new anti-cynosural field module instead.

A mobile cynosural inhibitor for example does such a job as anchorable. Or you could just use your guns too.

How does it make sense the scram keeps you from docking tho?

</div>

Docking is a form of navigation. Scrams are used to stop someone from navigating and to hold them down.

But I agree, it’s a bit strange.

Scramming a cyno source will surely hold them down and stop them from getting away. But that doesn’t stop a cyno.

</div>

It’s another inconsistency in the game. Scrams doesn’t stop anyone from docking at an NPC station. But on an Upwell structure it does.

Should simply be fixed, either it works everywhere or nowhere.

Regarding to Cynos: The game desperately needs countermeasures to Cynos. Not Deployables. Active ones, on ships. A deterrent to open a cyno too close or a motivation to jam/neut/kill the Anti-Cyno Ship first. Tactical gameplay options. Not just “cyno up, jump jump, spread tackle!”.

I’d prefer a special script for HIC Points that can “jam” cynos as long as the effect lasts (not ending them, we don’t want them to be abused… right?). Or a special module for HICs that does block Cynos, 20km bubble effect or 30km focused effect, choice is up to the pilot.

It’S not an inconsistency or strange. It’s a small caveat to the ability to tether and be invulnerable to interactions when outside the structure. You do not have this luxury on NPC stations, and thus you should be able to dock even when pointed/scrammed.

</div>

We can debate wether it’s _justified_ or not to have this inconsistency in the game. It still stays an inconsistency.

CCP should simply decide if something like “Tether” for example is benefitial for the gameplay experience or not. If it’s the superior mechanic that adds something, whether this benefit is tactical gameplay or making it easier/more conveninent/less confusing for newbros or players in general, then simply ALL stations (even NPC ones) should tether. And then all docking mechanics can work the same.

</div>

Tether is a differentiating factor from NPC stations. It’s a small aspect that makes people select those over more secure NPC stations for their activities, where they have the choice between either.

It’s at no point confusing to anyone if you use your brain.

Giving NPC stations tether would require that CCP removes their individuality. Right now, some stations are better than others, and some systems only have terrible stations available for activities. Giving all of them tether, would remove that.

Likewise, structures are not stations. They are a mix of POS and outposts. Removing tether from them removes the important aspect of POS shield invulnerability.

</div>

A scrambler shouldn’t stop someone from being able to dock as the ship can still move and use an afterburner. Both moving at top speed and using afterburners are navigation and immune to scramblers so why the hell can docking be blocked by a scrambler?

But no. Scramblers should not stop cynos. A cyno is a hole through space that has nothing to do with warp drives. I also think a micro jump drive should be immune to scramblers because it’s also a hole in space. It has nothing to do with warp drive.

But then, I don’t make the decisions. CCP does, but good luck getting them to make sense of it all.

Scramblers don’t stop navigation. They affect warp drive only.

Afterburners are not stopped by a scrambler nor is moving at your ship’s top speed. A scrambler should not affect docking since you don’t need warp speed to dock.

Just being a part of navigation is not enough to be stopped by a scrambler.

Two things that should not be affected by scramblers are docking and MJD. Neither has anything to do with warp drive.

Yeah, I think we just disagree on this one. But it’s okay, personal preferences vary. I personally think the whole design of Upwell Structures is a desaster. That includes thethering and basically most of their other mechanics. But thats just me.

Warp _and_ jump drive.

What I was saying that it just affects navigation modules, not things that aren’t related to navigation, like cynos. You’re right that it doesn’t affect _all_ navigation, only a selection.

Yep the cyno blobbing is META and it is boring as hell. Any GOOD game dev should see patterns in their game and regularly change the mechanics to force a change in META. Its ridiculous that there are zero counters to covert cynos (n+1 does not count), and the counter to normal cynos is a trash module that takes time to deploy and can just be ignored by cynoing at range which changes very little really. But what do you expect when CCP only care about lining their pockets?Unfortunately, they make their most money from Null so will cater to Null player demands or risk Null unsubbing like during blackout. Cash is king.
