They have a valid reason, refusing to multi means you can’t guarantee a link will be available to your fleet. They absolutely want to avoid standing up a fleet only to have to stand it down because you couldn’t get a link out, because it hurts participation in other fleets, so the best solution available is to just have the FC provide the link alt. It’s no different than cap players being required to bring a fax alt. It just makes sure the fleet can form with every required role covered, and makes the experience smoother and more enjoyable for everyone, which is very important for the future of the group. This was explained to you at length in your thread. ---

I had a similar situation, but it affected our whole corp after we chose to join a new alliance. For really stupid reasons they were just fixed on killboard stats and not on actual outcomes of holding space, prosperity and ability to defend yourself. Just raw stats. And those stats weren’t negative at all. But they were afraid that they could be at some point in the future. So very afraid. And that they could lose their face to whomever which i don’t know to this day. So what did they do? They forbid us to fly expensive ships beyond a certain value in our own 0.0 space. We had a proven track record of space defence and fleet engagements, but that didn’t matter. The argument always kept coming up that we could lose too much value and it would damage the killboard stats if it would happen despite it never happened. We quit the alliance with our whole corp at one point and they couldn’t believe it. But we felt we needed to do it. I don’t know the reasoning in your case, but maybe they wanted you to show more commitment or whatever other reason that you didn’t mention. But it comes down to a similar thing…either you can’t fund a second account or you don’t want to because you don’t accept their way of reasoning. In that case the “why should you care?” part applies. Either you continue to do your stuff then and let them find someone suitable for FC in their eyes or search for a group that doesn’t follow stupid ideologies and suits you and your playstyle better. I know things can be very complicated. Luckily i have come to know that at a certain age you just don’t care for the stupid things anymore and have the freedom to react. ---

In my day and age 12-15 years ago when i was into alliance life this was strictly forbidden for any serious large fleet. A second and third FC were required to take those roles and be part of the fleets in order to be able to continue the fight if the FC was taken out or at least bring some of the survivors home if needed. And while not needed to do FCing they managed the fleet for the FC. This was a time of espionage and all kinds of shenanigans like ddos attacks an the like. And even if this wasn’t happening it was required to protect the fleet from internet or power outage of the FC, hardware failures and from the usual “cat is on fire/mom is calling” to “you need to fetch the kids”. ---

Your post is mostly bitter vet BS, Evolving game mechanics are not “Repeating” and FW has more dev focus in the last two years than anything else in the game. Sounds like you just sit in one spot and don’t get around. That isn’t FC’s fault. This is coming from a 21 year player. Most players are their own worst enemies in EVE online. ---

…so now you’re necroing a message from _May 2019_? Well, here’s a quick update, 7 years later: haven’t cared about EVE Online for years. I think I’ve posted a few messages on topic each now and then (last about Exordium, IIRC) and as far as I know the game remains stale with about 26,000 peak accounts online of which nobody knows how many are bots (but, a lot?) and no future plans beyond doing the same old same old and spending EVE money to develop yet another failed FPS and some blockchain based 40 million $ headshot once the blockchain thing fails and the investors get their money back. So, what do I miss from EVE Online 9 years after last playing it? Caring about EVE Online. I come here as a free rider to spread music and bullsh¡t for free, and that’s it. It seems you are not up to date, but CCP got renamed. That is something i miss already. The new logo is nice, but the old one including the animation was again a classic. ---

No matter the name the point still stands. CCP/FC is not the same company that used to try brave, new, big things and be…what did they call that video they made? “Fearless”, yeah that was it! What they’ve called “expansions” for the past few years have just been tweaks with no major new additions or what they derisively called “Jesus features” and as a result the game’s gotten stale. Incarna _could_ have breathed new life into spreadsheets in space had it not been released half-baked and buggy. It could have been iterated on and integrated into Eve in meaningful ways beyond CQ but the Summer of Rage blowback scared them so badly that they’ve just given up. ---

Nullsec used to feel a lot more “wild west”. It was chaotic, there was dozens if not hundreds of small corps that were all battling it out to carve out a slice of territory to call their own. There was lots of different alliances, and null actually felt like a fiercely contested war zone. These days it feels more stagnant. There’s just a few superpower coalitions, and none of them are brave enough to actually commit their super fleet to a major fight, so there’s less conflict. ---
