To be fair what he is getting at is that even in kindness one should be mindful. That leads to a compassion that gifts one a deep and lasting satisfaction. Can you mansplain to a troll? ---

When you came into the world the world laughed and you cried. Live life in such a way that when you die the world cries and you laugh. In other words be such a gift to others that they lament your passing and live a life that is so fulfilled that when you pass there is only joy and peace. ---

to be selfless essentially means to do something with non attachment, I would ask you who is it that is attached. If you are aware of the attachment you are not the attachment, the object and that which is aware of the object can never be the same thing. When you rest in that place attachment ceases to exist. ---
