Indeed, the only defenceless players in Eve are those that choose to be.

Couldn’t agree more, and to add to this:

The only dead players are the ones with no more HP.
The only slow ship is the one who doesn’t move fast.
The only expensive ship is because its a lot of ISK.
The only stupid players are the ones that don’t be smart.
The only space ships are the ships that are space . . . and only if they are ships.

What do you say to people in the real world that don’t agree with you, and point out your wrongheadedness?

Do they get the same tired boring diatribe that you use here, with no real consequence, other than getting yet another ban for being a bellend; or are you afraid of getting a “good talking to”?

You left out a few of the other Bully classics such as:
“…I didn’t punch him in the face, his face got in the way of my fist!”
Or, as they might say it here on the EVE Online forums:
“…The only people getting ganked are the people who put themselves in the gankers way!”
"…If you don’t want to get ganked, stopped getting in the ganker’s way! "

Its all so simple, really.

No one is saying that though, mate. At the end of the day, though, if you don’t want to get robbed, you don’t leave your front door unlocked when you go out. Mitigating the risk you take when you undock in this game is entirely on you, because make no mistake, the moment you undock, you are taking a risk. That is EVE Online, that is what it’s designed to be from the ground up. Every move is a risk, and it’s meant to be that way. If you expect to be any measure of safe without taking steps of your own to ensure it in this game, then you don’t understand EVE. It’s that simple. Call us bullies, griefers, whatever you want to call us, it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, you’re the one losing ships to us, and as long as no one’s breaking the rules, that gives us, the PVP’ers, the ultimate last word on your fate, especially when you leave your fate in our hands by not taking steps to mitigate the risk you take when you undock.

Taking risks is all good and fine but you can’t give people a false sense of security and not tell them about very important rules through which others will try to victimize them, especially when there is the potential for devastating losses. That is just trash game design.

Its a joke.

Who’s giving anyone a false sense of security? People who don’t read up on EVE before diving into it, skipping the tutorials, and then dying to a suicide gank in high sec or losing all their stuff to a scam literally have only themselves to blame for not learning the game before getting that really expensive stuff in the first place. The information is there, and not hard to find. People literally post about this stuff daily on the forums, trying to give people like you who are complaining advice on how not to find yourself in a position where you feel the need to complain, and you ignore it, set as you are in your self-entitled expectation for the game to change according to your standards, rather than you putting in the effort to adapt to the game.

Sorry, but the rook does not move diagonally in a game of chess, and you don’t get to demand it does just because you ran out of bishops.

You need to stop with the personal attacks. If you can’t reply to people without turning it into a pissing match, then you aren’t mature enough for the conversation. Alluding to Jonah’s intelligence instead of attempting to have a conversation with his counterpoints (which are relevant) is childish and petulant. Grow up, or get out.

As it happens, Jonah has been playing EVE for much longer than you, and knows its ins and outs and various nuances with much more detail and subtlety than you could ever hope to with the attitude you’ve brought to the table so far. Maybe he is dumb, who knows? I don’t. That’s not important to me. What matters is that he knows and understands EVE very well. You won’t get very far if all you can do is insult him, because if you’d rather insult him than counter his points, then at the end of the day, his points remain unchallenged, and you’re left looking like a fool who can’t defer to his expertise.

At no point does the game ever inform you on the differences in concord reaction times, and that is what suicide gankers rely on for much of their victims.
>

>

No, I expect people to either do their homework first, or learn from a new thing they didn’t know when it happens. It’s not poor game design, because the game is designed from the ground up to hold your hand as little as possible. There are plenty of players here who were all new once, all of which learned a few lessons the hard way. We’re doing quite well at the game these days.

For the record, no one is arguing with you, either. We’re explaining why we’re right. Your inexperience with the game is quite clear, so if you’ve been playing longer than Jonah, I’d consider your lack of learning to be even more embarrassing. If you’ve had that much time to come to an understanding of the game, and still completely fail to do so, I wouldn’t advertise that.

> [@Alpha\_Slow](#):
>
> Don’t do anything that would deserve being insulted and you won’t feel the need to cry about them.

The fact you think you get to decide who and what deserves insult reveals your arrogance and entitlement entirely. That’s on you. Again, grow up.

> [@Alpha\_Slow](#):
>
> Just stop posting before you embarrass yourself even more. You clearly have worthwhile nothing to add or you should have already done so. You are just pushing people back on their opinions with your ignorance on the matter, and you should feel bad.

Took me a lot less time to reply to you than you to me.

Ironic that you want to sit here and go off-topic so much with personal attacks while calling others ignorant and their opinions irrelevant. Your attacks here are characteristic of one who has lost, knows it, and is trying to save face by attempting to stand over and intimidate those that oppose you. In all your fluster and constant editing of your post above, you have yet to make a valid worthwhile counterpoint to anything I’ve said. I’m going to start reporting all your personal attacks now, so either stop making them, or get banned. Your choice.

All of them. Every single game I play, I read up on first and get an understanding of mechanics before I even decide to spend money on it. Because why would I spend money on something I don’t want?

Once again, though, you ignore the entire message. EVE is a difficult game to learn in its entirety, and there are plenty of lessons that can only be learned by experience. The difference between people doing well in the game, and people complaining on the forums, is that the people doing well learned something positive from those experiences, adapted, and became stronger in the game as a result.

As for “incredibly stupid or trolling”, this is another characteristic trait of someone who is wilfully avoiding their loss of ground on an issue. There are two kinds of people in the world: those who think in false dichotomies, and penguins.

I guess I’m either trolling or stupid though, because you being wrong is impossible.

That was sarcasm, in case you couldn’t tell. You are, in fact, wrong. Your inability to admit it is further evidence of your immaturity, as is the false dichotomy, one that isn’t uncommon amongst people who can’t admit they might be wrong.

EVE is a hard mistress, no doubt, but it’s working as intended that way. You’re right that the game has a false sense of security in many places, including low and nul sec. You’re wrong that it’s a problem. Life is a false sense of security. Any minute now, your house could collapse on you, killing you, and that would be it. You not paying attention to the risk doesn’t mean it’s not there, and that’s what the game expects from you: to pay attention to the risk, measure it for yourself, and figure out what you’re going to do about it. WORKING AS INTENDED.

One more thing, regarding this.

Those devastating losses are what drive the game. The game is designed to put you in circumstances that hopefully cause you to lose stuff. This is what drives the economy from the ground up. This is what drives the game from the ground up. It’s exactly what makes it a PVP game, and the single most hardcore one at that as well, exactly because of those devastating losses. Those devastating losses are THE WHOLE POINT OF THE GAME.

The moment you undock, you’ve lost your ship. If you make it back to a station, you’ve done well. If you’re not playing the game with this attitude, you can only ever be disappointed by it.

Whoa!!!
So many outright contradictions!!!
So much confusion! So much twisting and mangling
So Much … (let me choose my word carefully, here…) Pompousness! no … wait … ARROGANCE! yes! So much Arrogance!

First the Chess analogy. Chess is a game where two opponents are given completely equal material. And, not only that, but chess is game that cannot be played until both players understand the rules! Chess necessitates that understanding before you can play it. If you lose material in Chess, or fall behind, you can rest assured that it was 100% your error(s). Whatever those errors happen to be.
EVE Online completely misleads and misinforms the player. From the moment you encounter “EVE Online” the MARKETING is misleading you and misinforming you. The “Faction Standing” system, the “Concord” system, the “Tutorials” and the “Career Agents” are ALL actively misleading and misinforming the player. NONE of these things teach the player about what EVE Online consists of, Gate-Camping, Suicide-Ganking. Where is the EVE Online ‘tutorial’ or ‘career agent’ that teaches a player how to Gate-Camp??? Where is the Eve Online tutorial or career agent that teaches a player how to Suicide-Gank a mining ship??? Where is the ‘tutorial’ or ‘career agent’ that teaches players that “ISK DOUBLING” is a scam??? OR that the EVE Online interface can be manipulated to SCAM you???

Where is the Marketing Campaign that says: “HEY! DO YOU LIKE GRIEFING AND GANKING HELPLESS VICTIMS?! THEN, BOI, HAVE WE GOT THE GAME FOR YOU!!!”

As to “…devastating losses …” being “…THE WHOLE POINT OF THE GAME…”
We’ve pretty much already established that this isn’t ‘true’ either. Suicide Ganking is Okay. but AWOXING is NOT. ( … Awoxing is now a Bannable offense. and no doubt CCP will return all the ‘ill-gotten’ gains) There is NO LIMIT to the amount a solo/single player can lose, but the items of major corps and alliances are being protected from being lost when a Citadel goes pop. Just to be clear! That is TWO distinct instances in which the assets of Major Corps and Alliances are being protected FROM SCAMMING AND GANKING!!!

Unlike many others I don’t tell people what they should “KNOW” or “UNDERSTAND” … I deal purely in facts and allow the individual to make up their own minds.

1. Suicide Ganking is OKAY, but AWOXING IS NOT.

2. There is NO LIMIT to the amount of ISK a solo/single player can lose, but the ISK/ASSETS of Major corps and allinaces are being protected, both with the EULA and game mechanics.

3. The “Faction standing” system, the “Concord” system, the “Tutorial” and the “Career Agents” all mislead and misinform players. They DO NOT teach players what EVE Online is about or like.

4. Attempting to take DEFENSIVE actions are heavily punished by EVE Online mechanics (ie … The Warp Core Stabilizer, etc) HOWEVER, the tiniest ship can fit dozens of offensive mods without the slightest penalty whatsoever!!! You can be warp scrambled, webified and ECM’d by the same ship and that ship can still fit MORE offensive mods!!! Good Luck fitting enough Warp-Core Stabilizers to actually get into warp!

5. the Auto-Pilot is designed to give gankers time to scan you, determine your worth, and gank you.

6. Other mechanics in the game, which the player is outright LIED to about are there to give gankers time to gank you, like Ships NOT jumping through a gate when they are in range and the jump button has been pressed several times!

7. Warp Drive is ON the ship, but a Warp-Scrambler can prevent a Ship from Jumping through a Gate when its in the Jump Gate’s jump range.

8. it is pretty much an established fact that calling EVE Online a “PVP” game is, as the title of the thread states, the most laughable thing ever!!!

TBH, you’re addressing the true EvE tutorial agents, right here in the forums. Players teach newbies how to play EvE. This is the same as learning something in a textbook, and re-learning it once on the job.
