I have always like this doomsday film better than _Armageddon_. You remember the one where NASA sends the band Aerosmith to sing an asteroid to sleep. The tsunami scenes are very good. Also the final scene at the beach. Of course, every impact film has the same issue, you can’t really film such an impact because it’s so effin bright so no matter how accurate, the VFX are always VFX. You can’t film the sun falling on Earth… with the luminosity of the Sun… and still have the background visible in the same frame. If it’s not blinding, it’s fake. If it’s blinding bright as it should, you can’t see it and your impact sequence just became a bloody flash of light. Pick your poison. (Same goes for nuclear explosions. The explosion itself lasts 2 or 3 milliseconds, then it’s plasma/air overheated by absorbing x-rays, but as for the victims.. well, you’re here, and 3 milliseconds later you’re in flames and the damn thing still hasn’t fully become a fireball yet but you’re set up for the worst seconds of your life until you die. “Barefoot generation” had to take some artistic licenses to show the destruction of the victims both slower and faster than it was. Also the impressive scene from Terminator 2, although it plays as a nightmare not a real event) ---

I think most people, who watched it, will agree… ![image](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/a/2/b/a2b630420f1ff1d37397cc41dd3d703dfe1a6519.jpeg) is **the worst doomsday movie offender.** In this movie alone; - They hacked the internet. - They literally built a bullet train to Hell. - They made a mockery of anything rational, all while being deadpan serious about it. Watch this one as sort of a MST3K comedy with your friends on beer and pizza night. ---

I had seen it many years ago, aired on TV. Also have watched some clips from it on YT, like the attack sequence. Nevermind the silly AI thumbnail. This is the real deal, BBC’s 1984 Threads. The movie is more about family drama than the “horror”, but this fleshes out the characters better and makes for a vivid tale. ---

An astronaught returns from orbit after her capsule is attacked by unknown origins. Then she is subjected to an odd quarunteen in a government safe house. Is it all in her head or is there a hidden agenda in the works? ---
