_ **Walter Hill** _ (born January 10, 1942) is an American filmmaker, known for his [action films](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_film "Action film") and revival of the [Western genre](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_(genre) "Western (genre)"). One of the great old-school directors who could make toughness, silence and atmosphere speak louder than pages of dialogue. From gritty urban classics like The Warriors and 48 Hrs. to stylish westerns and hard-boiled action films, his movies always feel lean, raw and unmistakably his. There’s a kind of mythic masculinity and street poetry in his films that modern cinema rarely captures anymore. ![1000008302](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/7/1/8/71818a48f6c7aaa0375709caab7d5bf3107dd314.jpeg) ![1000008307](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/b/e/e/bee7d48b82698c1c3201ae68eaef620300f75cd9.jpeg) ![1000008306](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/2/2/8/2288a1226a339c928a17eb2e118f922d745dc0cb.jpeg) ![1000008305](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/8/3/4/834bf13aeed3051bc39e0f601fe5a7840ff7ead8.jpeg) ![1000008304](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/c/4/b/c4b24ff27332d42995aeafd6e140d2b038b90dde.jpeg) ![1000008303](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/4/a/0/4a02a6269601623a3dc70d9b083aa1334e18460a.jpeg) ---

**Luc Besson** is renowned for his hands-on, actor-centric approach on set. Instead of working strictly from a remote video village, the director frequently operates the camera himself, fostering an intimate, dynamic environment that allows actors to react naturally without constant “cut” breaks. ![1000008361](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/5/3/f/53f20db9bb64dcceff82731eeffb0c6d49506b53.jpeg) ![1000008364](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/d/b/2/db2571bf4b51545a689cdb9f0c2dbadf42406376.jpeg) ![1000008365](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/a/3/d/a3d49f61b7db6e66f25bec6316d460302501ab8e.jpeg) ![1000008363](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/5/9/6/596ad1a0bdb311533b3bef08c34a75e51c23a66f.jpeg) ![1000008362](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/2/d/3/2d35121a6461b3f65db1f1e2ee0b207d79310498.jpeg) ---

I haven’t been watching much movies, but I finished the Korean soap opera called “Hotel Del Luna” from 2019. The genre is hard to pin down, drama, romance, comedy, horror, suspense, it seems to have it all. Roughly 20 hours to watch and it does come to a conclusion so you are not left hanging. Jang Man Wol is the thousand-year-old owner of a supernatural Hotel del Luna. She is cursed to run it for her crimes. When Goo Chan Sung, a Harvard trained hotel assistant manager, is forced to work at Hotel del Luna, due to his father’s past deal he made with Man Wol, to save his life, and raise his son well. > **[Hotel Del Luna | Watch with English Subtitles & More | Viki](https://www.viki.com/tv/36667c-hotel-del-luna#episodes)** > > Discover Hotel Del Luna with IU and Yeo Jin Goo: a supernatural romance where a cursed hotel CEO and her manager unravel centuries of ghostly secrets. The film is better than the book, as it aged poorly, but the film gets the tone right to be not-so-damn-early-1980s-and-never-else. Also this scene sends shivers down my spine every time… [![](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/6/7/3/67355b945c36e0750fe25760824ff7d60b3deb1b.jpeg "Contact | A Signal From Outer Space | Warner Bros. Last night I watched “In the Lost Lands” 2025. Dave Bautista and Milla Jovovich. Written by George R.R. Martin. Directed by Some Moron. ![Screenshot 2026-06-16 144350](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/b/d/0/bd03776a93ff901d86ab538891090b8a1c5bdf09.jpeg) Pros: Action, Acting, and Plot Twists. Cons: Crank that volume! They whisper too much. Don’t expect it to be an epic blockbuster, it has a thin plot but good twists. No motivation on characters such as; Bad guys are just bad for no other reason, or belonging to the church or state. Direction and editing killed them getting a better rating. ---
