Of course, it depends what you mean by “…able to enjoy the game.” If one takes the game as a whole - accepting that risks are everywhere, including the Market and Contracts - then the meaning of enjoyment takes into account loss/gain as part of the equation and whatever happens then is accepted as _fun_ regardless of the amountof risk. If on the other hand the game is seen as chunks where diverse levels of difficulties are encountered then one may have in mind that the choices are ‘little risks’ ‘medium risks’ and ‘high risks’ and of course humans will most often take the path of least resistance and HiSec become the perceived ideal. The point is, there are different ways of enjoying EVE, it all depends on a player’s expectations. I expect to die as many times as I buy and fit a ship, the question is just a matter of time. ---

Almost getting ganked is a gas. When my ship has been wrecked it was usually my fault and I learned from it. There have been a few times I just sat there and let them send me home. “Sup?” ~ me in my new corvette after getting ganked 🙂 ---

NPC Null varies a lot. Syndicate is very different from Great Wildlands, for example. Sovereign null has some carnivorous areas as well, even though it is 95% farmers. ---
