As I’ve said several times, if that were true, then there would be no reason to ransom mission items.

They are “special” items with significant value for the mission runner, and they’re so important that GMs will reset missions just so another can be obtained. That on its own is proof enough of their value.

Same principle of people that obtain items needed for COSMOS and jack the prices up for those who need them.

CCP isnt going to do anything about it because stealing mission loot can and ransoming it can be legit scamming. Which is allowed as well as various other forms of scamming.

Serious mission runners that has this happen, dont come here and cry, they either ask a gm to reset or wait out a timer, or if their standings can handle the hit, they’ll fail it.

But youve provided no source at all, that this legit game play method is causing players to quit, when this happens maybe to less than 10% of players

You’re also just making up numbers. For all you know half of all players could have this happen and quit without saying anything in the forums. The only ones that might be able to tell is CCP themselves. Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, they have been quite quiet on the matter. I’m not actually aware of any post by them in the past 5 years regarding this. Would be interested if anyone is aware of any guidance they’ve given on the matter.

> Same principle of people that obtain items needed for COSMOS and jack the prices up for those who need them.

I’m not familiar with COSMOS, having only heard about it from horror stories on the forums of people who didn’t want to get locked out of the quest line due to the item being stolen. Does the mission even take place in high sec? My proposal wouldn’t affect low sec or null sec in the slightest. It only extends the protections afforded to miners (a very passive and simple task) to also cover mission runners (a much more dynamic task, at least for new players).

Your proposal has about a 0% chance of making it in game, it runs completely counter to how EvE works.

There already is counter play to thievery, thieves will get a suspect flag and can be shot at without CONCORD intervention. Level 1-4 missions are easy enough that they can be run with PvP fits, when the thief turns yellow, point and blap them.

Pay attention, watch local, use DScan, use PvP fits, lots of options. No problem here.

</div>

Mission item is a conflict driver.

In your world, where others shouldn’t be able to steal your loot there is no need for the loot. You would be awarded mission completion upon kill.

Existance of mission item proves companys intent for it to be stolen.

GMs intervention is a way for the company to keep some whiners and space Karens.

Let’s get real honest here.

You don’t give a rats fart about CCP’s customers, or bottom line. If you did, you wouldn’t have pulled your finances and quit in the first place

You’re using them to push your narrative and virtue signal and pull the ‘victim card.’

You’re salty and mad because someone stole your mission item. And instead of doing the sensible thing and handling it in game, your crying to CCP to fix it for you.

When people can’t control their emotions, then they are forced to control other people’s behavior.

And that is exactly what you’re doing here. Trying to get CCP to control other people’s behavior because you can’t manage your tushy-troubled feelings.

You clearly haven’t thought this through, or you’d know that griefers have every advantage in a fight against a mission runner. It doesn’t matter how prepared they are, the griefer can and likely will counter them.

If a mission runner tries to fight a griefer, all they can expect to gain is the insurance for their ship.

Not to mention the griefer can literally just steal the mission item (triggering the suspect flag) and instantly warp away before the runner can do anything.

Existance of GMs resetting missions proves the company acknowledges there is a problem.

By the time a player reads about contacting a GM to reset the mission, the damage is already done. For most people this happens to, they probably wouldn’t even find out it’s an option.

Let’s correct the record on this one. I already know how to avoid and how to handle this degenerate (and hopefully rare) mechanic. If you can’t tell that from the rest of the conversation, there’s really no helping you.

Unlike the common assbear that drinks tears on the forum, some people actually like to see games **improve** over time. The whole point of a game is to have fun, after all, and that’s not supposed to be a zero sum game.

Because let’s get real honest here. You were one of those people that complained you couldn’t can flip in rookie systems anymore.

As for the rest of what you said… yeah, I said from the start I haven’t played in several years. Doesn’t really change how familiar I would be with this, given how allegedly “rare” it is. But beyond the “you don’t know what you’re talking about” that was repeated 10 times, you did mention this…

> So you admit it is easily countered. Problem solved.

It’s called a noob trap. In case you weren’t aware, noob traps are bad game design, and should be avoided if you don’t want your new players to quit before they ever become veterans.

While a veteran can deal with the issue relatively easily, it is devastatingly frustrating for a newer player. It’s comparable to can baiting rookies. Just because it’s obvious to veterans that it’s a trap and it’s easy to avoid doesn’t mean the game should allow it, let alone encourage it.

You are unable to communicate with other capsuleers?

There are dedicated communication channels in New Eden for those who are new to the life of a caspuleer. You could educate them. But you choose not to.

It should be encouraged. The path to learning is filled with pitfalls.

In The Prophet’s time in New Eden, he has done all of what you’ve mentioned and more.

It is obvious you are too weak to survive in New Eden. Your “advice” isn’t it at all.

Outside of that in the rest of hisec, legal gameplay

This may in fact be how CCP views this. I think it’s a mistake, but it’s a distinct possibility.

The problem is that the “new player’s life cycle” doesn’t just magically end when they stop doing the tutorial missions. It’s not like there’s a tutorial to teach you what to do when your mission loot gets stolen, or even one that teaches you how to deal with mission invaders in general. If anything, it trains you to shoot the invader, which is about the worst thing you can do…

(I’m obviously make assumptions about the current tutorial missions being similar to what I remember, but feel free to challenge that if anything I just said is incorrect)

> So let me tell ypu this. I work for the premiere standings service. All we do is run missions 24/7.
> 3 yrs since i joined them, and thousands of missions ran by hundreds of players. Never seen one complaint

That’s definitely an interesting set of counter data, but I have to challenge the bias. A mission corporation (or whatever the term is, I forget) would obviously teach its members all the practices they should do to minimize the risk of invaders and how to handle them.

> Ive played since 2011. Ive had my loot stolen one time.

So proprotional to time spent playing, I’ve probably had my mission item stolen 100x as much (still once). To be fair though, I’d expect it to be something people who stick around will only fall for once.

It’s entirely possible this issue doesn’t happen anywhere near as frequently as I think. I’m biased, of course, having had it happen personally and then read about others who also suffered it.

Personally, I don’t think I actually used rookie chat at all (did it even exist when I was a rookie?), and almost never used the help chat, typically just looking things up directly instead. But every player handles things differently, and since the ransomer will likely contact you before you even realize what happened, who knows what happens to most people?

Rather than make assumptions one way or the other, my goal is just to encourage CCP to consider doing something about it. That’s really all I can do anyway.
